I'm reading one of the newer Stonesbooks right now, and there are many quotes from all in there. I don't really dig the ones from Leavell because he sort of paints the picture as if he was a full Stone. E.g. he will share stories about Stu from the very first US tours. When Leavell wasn't even a blip on the Allman Bros' screen yet.
In the old days one of Keith's quotes would have applied to him: (paraphrased) "people will hang round the band, until they start seeing themselves as a full band member; that's when it is time to cut them off"

Hmm, don't seem to see Chuck anywhere in this vid:

Chuck is clearly a valuable and RESPECTED member of the Rolling Stones
road band.

As such, he certainly has earned the right after these many decades touring and collaborating with them to be referred in the press as a (or by anyone)
'Rolling Stone".

We ALL know who the Rolling Stones are, and to even debate whether Chuck, Bobby, Lisa, et al are real rolling stones is juvenile.

MEMBERS of The Rolling Stones road band.

hy all the Chuck hatin'??

When the band gives the man, the musician, that much respect, them that's good for that long,it's good enough for me.

When the band gives the man, the musician, that much respect, them that's good for that long,it's good enough for me.

What's good enough for ME is what SOUNDS good enough for me.

Amazed by the people who say we have to like his playing because he's such a nice guy, played great on "Jessica", the only one who knows all the songs, the only one who both Mick and Keith can live with, annointed by Stu, etc. NONE of those things make me enjoy what comes out of that digital excuse for a piano, and that's the ONLY thing I care about. I don't evaluate anybody else's playing based on the above criteria, nor would it make any sense to do so. So, if we don't like the way Chuck plays, his tone, his style, his instrument, why try to get us to change our minds by talking about non-musical things?

From the Urban Dictionary:

Butt-Cut
The hair-do that involves parting the hair down the middle of ones head
Mike used to part his hair on one side but he decided a change was in order and now has a Butt-cut

However, Chuck went too far in an interview back in 1997, if memory serves, resulting in not getting invited to play on B2B.

Do you remember which one? An interview in early 1997 then since work on B2B started in NYC in 12/96 with Mick and Keith and the recording was pretty much done at the end of March. I do remember reading that Chuck was "crushed" at not being invited to record B2B.

No, I don't, and that bothers me smiling smiley However, I believe it was prior to the sessions, and indeed it must have been in 1996. I'm sure there are others here remembering it, as it has been posted or at least mentioned here quite frequently.

Thanks, that would indeed have been a bit of a shocker in 1994, very much in line with the RS article (Stones in masks on the cover) from August 1994 where the journalist described how Chuck was "coordinating" things during rehearsals...like he was "coordinating" in Bondy in Novmber. Not much has changed since, so I guess he was right about his role...

Whether that type of interview got him excluded from the B2B sessions I'm not sure really, maybe it was part of getting some new sound (like Benmont Tench on Already Over Me), it seems there was no question that he would be back for the following tour.

That's why I like Already Over Me so much - Chuck's not playing, it's Blondie.

Thanks for looking it up, I had no idea Blondie played the piano, particularly not on that track where I hadn't noticed it unlike the nice Hammond...will give it another listen...
