Revisiting 1963 again....
Posted by: JamesPhelge00 ()

As the days and dates for 2013 fall exactly the same as they did for 1963 - I'm posting a few blogs and memories on my site as things happened back then

My latest is THE STONES RECORD IN A REAL STUDIO for March 11. As you know this was the recording date at IPC with Glyn Johns.

My take on it can be found under the 1963 Revisited button at:

Should be plenty of things muse about for the next years or so.. )))

great to read this. if I may, what was it that got Charlie to join? a steady increase in gigs, and turnout at those gigs? may seem like a simplistic question...
thanks in advance...

Been realy interesting reading 1963 revisited,James.
I also remember that year well, especially January,February and even up to Easter 'cos of all the snow and freezing weather in London area where I lived.

Also remember that summer as I was in Germany when Kennedy was there, and then of course November when he was assasinated.
Then of course there was The Rolling Stones on their first steps to stardom.
Happy days. smileys with beer

I just read the Philip Norman Bio of Mick and I thought the research into the very early days was pretty good. Are there any photos of the famous apartment (walls decorated a certain way) LOL

'Nankering' was one of the most enjoyable rock biographies I've read. You can see from those earliest of days that the die was cast as far as relationships within the band. It had to be surreal to see your roomies rise from squalor to international stardom in such a short time.

Really great!
Thanks a lot. It really helps us to get into the way things were at the time.
I really appreciate it.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

No camera I'm afraid. Nobody ever considered pictures would be relevent. The trouble with history is - you don't know which bit it will be while you're living it. Any camera would have been sold for strings or harp money....Bill had a camera after they turned pro, but don't think he took any at the flat - he was not a big visitor there anyway...

Pity the Beatles night was never pixed....

Good insight James,or do you prefer Nanker. spinning smiley sticking its tongue out
I wish I had a camera or taken pix at certain eventful times in my life,as would we all,if we thought that much about it.
Seeing a Tamla Motown show in 1964 at Kingston Granada comes to mind.
Can picture it all in my mind and the acts, and even seeing a mate of mine walking back to his seat from the bogs, halfway though The Supremes singing 'Baby Love'.
Great days.I haven't got the photos, but I got the memorys. smileys with beer
