I recently made a proposal to the "from the vaults series" people and the Stones to release the "lost Live Album" from master tapes I have or from what the Stones may have. I also want to include Stevie Wonder's performance as originally planned. Also to have the planned original cover. I have also offered them very rare concert footage that me and an associate have from the 72 tour from Philadelphia & Pittsburgh with sound that fans have never seen (or has not been circulated as far as I know) to go as a bonus DVD along with a couple other oddities.
I would love feed back about peoples thoughts on this idea and any other ideas of what else should be included in the package. All I can say now is they have the proposal and they are thinking about it.. I am awaiting their reply.

That's absolutely brilliant news VideoJames! The '72 tour in under-represented these days (now that we have several '71 releases and the great Brussels '73) and I've always wished they would release some really good unheard/unseen concert footage from '72! I'm hoping for stuff like Charlotte, Norfolk, Washington DC, Hollywood Palladium, etc., some day, but the Long Lost Live Album with original artwork, Stevie Wonder and bonus footage is an awesome idea and the perfect companion to the slightly underwhelming Ladies & Gentlemen release.
Thanks for the great work you do, and please let us now how it evolves!

It's a great idea, because the 72 tour deserves so much better than the crappy sounding Ladies & Gentlemen DVD! It was an epic tour with so many gems that it's hard to choose the best ones. I would love to hear Torn and Frayed and Ventilator Blues in great audio! Also Sweet Black Angel would be very welcome.

Have you checekd the vaults to see if some reels dated "1972-06-23" exist? These are the pre-L&G texan rehearsals. They were (partly) bootlegged in the early 90's. You might have some gems on those reels, enough to make an extra CD that would display the "loose" Stones.

@ alimente :
I do'nt hink that was done secretly. Check my link above your post. I assume the Stones took the tapes with them when they left the studio.

Thanks for the comments, but a couple things..When I spoke to two of the band members many, many years ago (30+) about the Dallas rehearsals both told me they knew nothing about master tapes from that rehearsal. They told me the best bet would be to ask Rollin Binzer about it existing? I met with Roland years ago, he visited me to look at some outtakes from Ladies & Gentlemen I had. As far as the Dallas rehearsals he told me he didn't have them either, so as far as I believe no multi track recording exist. So it will be highly unlikely they will ever be released officially with the quality that now exist.
Another question is can they still release the Stevie Wonder portion of the L.P. There may be an expiration date on when his show can be used??
So much has to be done first for this (lost live 72 L.P.) to get put out,so that going beyond what was planned is going to be a huge hurdle. As far as I know the library for the 1972 tour is not as deep as we all would wish. There are not many multi-track audio tapes from the 72 tour that exist and that probably would be the only other way any other songs would make it on an official CD..
The DVD bonus is a whole other story and would be the best bet for something rare/odd to be release but only if visual footage exist with the rare outtake song performed on the 72 tour. Example.. Sweet Black Angle or Don't Lie To Me from Texas. I don't know of any footage of Ventilator Blues ,Loving Cup or Torn & Frayed from Vancouver or Seattle shows from the 72 tour,it would be great if there was.. .I have some nice footage from Boston 72 ( 30 Min. appx.) that could be edited to HTW from the Boston show, but I don't have the song complete.Memorabilia items would be great for the CD/DVD case or for a little booklet to go along with the DVD/CD.
But first let's see if they even want to do something, I am still waiting to get a reply if this is even possible to put out (fingers crossed). BTW thanks for the ideas, any more let me know.. I will pass them on. There are two new things planned to come out in the Autumn, hopefully..So this project still has a while to happen if it does..

Oh! how I wish, tapes were made from some shows..Just a feed from the soundboard nothing multi-tracked. I believe the Madison bootleg was one of those.San Fransisco
was another. But when talking multi(16 trk) the Stones only did that in Philadelphia Pittsburgh, Dallas & Fort Worth. That's off the top of my head, I have some log sheets on what shows were record in multi track in the 70's. In 1978 the taped all the shows on cassette from the mixing board to listen after the show. One tape was stolen from the N.J. later to become the "Out ON Bail" bootleg. When working on Live in Texas 78, it seems there was no interest in using any of these taped shows as bonus material to be included. It may be they want only to release multi-track recordings only and the through the sound board shows we/most Stones fans love isn't good enough to be officially released by the band. IMHO

It is rumored that "Soul Survivor" was performed at one of the Chicago '72 concerts but no recording at all to document it (or to disprove it) has ever surfaced.

Not Houston?
Anyway there's hope for a release that would include rare FW cuts like "Don't Lie To Me" or the one-off "Sweet Black Angel"?
And anotehr question : do you have tapes of the Burbank pre-tour rehearsals?

As far as the Burbank pre-tour rehearsals.
I do not have any audio tapes, but I do have a 5/6 minutes reel of silent footage of them rehearsing from there. I have an idea where there is audio recordings of their rehearsals in Burbank, but I have not yet tried to get it.
Hopefully cuts like Sweet Black Angel & Don't Lie to Me could be used "If they still exist" when Rollin came by my home (years ago) they were looking for a excellent copy of the film for the DVD release, he wanted to see my copy and while there he told me some very depressing stories about the the making of the film and the what happened after the film came out with the negatives and outtakes
