This sounds a bit like Emotional Rescue sped up or Letterman's house band jamming. Doesn't sound like the Stones at all to me.

Mick must have been off growing his beard.

"ian mclagan or billy preston on the hammond?"

With the "1978" tag you have your own answer...

i don´t think so. bass playing is way too good. It also doesn´t sound like Ronnie (compare with fingerprint file)
All that slapping disco stuff - that´s surely bill.

The bass has to be Keith. It sounds like it's played with a plectrum, and it's also the lead stringed instrument--Bill would never play lead bass. This tune was obviously composed from the bass, therefore Keith.

Funny kind of jam for Stones members. It sounds like something the Saturday Night Live house band would play through a commercial break.

I'd say Ronnie on bass. Too many runs in it. And, Ron did do the Emotional Rescue bass after all.

Yeah, I was going to say it doesn't sound like Bill on bass, too crappy and all over the place. And yes, it sounds like the bass is leading everything.

Fingerprint File, you mean the song that Mick Taylor plays bass on?

Charlie on drums, Ian McLagan on wurly, Wood on bass and Keys on sax. According to McLagan it is a Wood penned song, not Jagger/Richards.

Sounds a bit sloppier than Ronnie's usual playing...

Oh, he did the studio version? I compared with the live 1975 versions that ronnie played.
Please compare the interludes on the high strings (that funky disco-stuff) with the bassline of Miss you. I think it´s the mostly underrated bill.

In that combination it is more likely to be a song intended for Ian McLagan's Little Troublemaker than a Stones outtake?!
