The Future: Mick Jagger And The Young Guns!
Date: March 3, 2013 21:26

I can't imagine the Rolling Stones (as a group) continuing past 2015, at the absolute latest. So what is the future going to look like?

I can see Charlie saying, "no more," very soon. And Keith? He seems OK at the moment, but I can't see him still performing three years from now.

What I can see is Mick continuing as a powerful force for at least another five to ten years. He seems forever young. Even when his "Jumpin Jack Flash days" are over he will still have his voice and moves - he can work a small space as good as any front man ever, with the one exception maybe being James Brown.

I can see Mick hooking up with some younger musicians at some point in the not too distant future. Maybe 'players" along the lines of a Jack White?

The future/new band: "Mick Jagger And The Young Guns".

Yes, young fresh minds hooking up with the legendary Mick Jagger! New songs!

I really can't see him ever do anything like that! The sad thing is you're right, he's in terrific shape (looked about 35 at Trabendo 3 feet away) he could go on putting up a great show for a few years but without the Stones I doubt he'd be very motivated to do so and he'd probably look his age a lot more without them...and a lot less people would be interested and that would hurt his ego for sure.

George Jones is hanging it up....Clapton is down for the count...Elvis may or may not turn up again...

All I hear is doom and gloom

Maybe so, but that doesn't change the reality that the Rolling Stones days are numbered! And, that Mick Jagger has a lot more productivity left in him beyond the life span of the Rolling Stones! You can bet Mick has even thought of this.

I am not so sure it wouldn't work. Of course he would have to surround himself with some young popular musicians that have a respect for the Stones and would be honored to work with a legend.

You are talking to someone that thinks his work outside of the Stones is fantastic.

He will do lots of things. Like he is now. Involved in film projects. Things like Superheavy. Dusting tapes in the vaults and release them. And spending time with his family is what he likes to do a lot nowadays.
But he will never call a new band the New Stones.

We are talking about musicians that would become the "new Stones". There was nothing about Superheavy that made anyone think of the Rolling Stones. Yes, it was a train wreck!

No nostalgia show. New young Stones with a legendary frontman. New fresh ideas, new songs, but with an old timeless sound.

Absolutely! And, 'The Last Time' with Arcade Fire was the best version I have ever heard, sans the original.

Not a lot of people are interested in things Jagger does, besides his work with the Stones.

So............ his ego would get hurt and thats something our little friend can not handle.

Just , maybe some shows with the band for the next 3, 4 years, until someone dies. Then thats it

They will do conserts in 2013 and 2014 and then they will retire. New CD, with new stuff - doubt it. If no new CD the next six months, then no new CD at all.

Jagger has twice tried to "break out of Stones" without any bigger succes, why should he try one more time in 2015.

He will probably work with his film projects and then maybe dig into some older Stones stuff and publish it as a Delux Box or whatever.

Else he will follow his younger wife's cretive work - that's enough for him.
