I know what you mean. However, even if the rhythm guitar plays off beat-chords in the chorus, SAL remains a gospel tune.

That's why I only said it's got a tinge of reggae, just hinted at in a few places by the guitar and organ and the drum beat in the chorus.
Reggae and gospel aren't that far apart. You could easily arrange No Woman No Cry as a gospel tune.
