I grew up in Hong Kong and at about age 8, i got a bootleg vinyl copy of Hot Rocks on a market stall. The first official one was a reissue single of "Out of time" in about 1975. Black and Blue was the first official Lp age 11.its amazing what you can remember

goat's head soup on 8-track
ya ya's on album
emotional rescue on cassette
steel wheels on cd

the 8 track was great way back when, because all you had to to was pop it into
the player and the album would play forever...except when the track changed in the middle of a song....

I was a late bloomer for the Stones. I bought Satisfaction (with pic sleeve) for 99 cents and the local hardwear/gift shop. July 1965.

"Let's spend the night together" was the first I bought when it was released.
"Flowers" the first I got ( from my parents - because I was a good boy and/or because I insisted to have this record ).

Sticky Fingers. August 1971. I remember it like it was yesterday. I had just bought my first own record player, saving money from summer work, and I needed a record to play on it. The next day I went back and bought Stone Age. I was hooked.

The album was Voodoo Lounge, and in fact it was not me who bought it, but my mother, who gave it to me as a present. She knew that I had wanted this record, and she has been a Stones fan herself back in the days. I was 16 at the time.

Tattoo You. Xmas gift 1981. Chosen by me after seeing "Start Me Up" -video.

Then in following months I bought randomly any item of the Stones I could find. They were strange and rare (by afterwards judging): 2lp Got Live if You Want it/Stone Age, Around And Around (German complication, mentioned in the above posts, Best of The Rolling Stones (Finnish complication), their first album with a poster and a cover of Mick 1970 live... It's a shame I have sold those away (after realizing that they were second rate releases).. as one could see there wasn't so many their 70's output - not even mentioning the golden period - available at the record shops in Finland that time... I remember buying Beggars Banquet and Exile by mail, after reading that those were their true masterpieces.. that was spring 1982, and jeez what a thrill it was open the post package, wacthing those incredible sleeves and putting the records in...

Steel Wheels, if you can believe it.....being a 14 year old dumbass at the time, I thought it was cool that the band had the same name as the magazine! 16 years later and I've lost count of all the Stones albums, CD's and bootlegs I own....those Rolling Stones are some addictive stuff!

Bought Stone Age when it first came out,
not knowing what it was, and despite shortcomings,
helped turn me onto the blues and early Stones fan.
But Brown Sugar was the first new single I bought
by them when it was first released, Sticky Fingers
shortly thereafter, and from there never stopped.

I bought the single " CONGRATULATIONS" in 1964! I was 10! I still have it !

My best friend's first Stones single was also CONGRATULATIONS...except that he got it in 1968. I think it was actually labelled CONGRADULATIONS. Love that song. Flip side here was Time is on My Side.

My first was Flashpoint in 2000. My dad had alot of their cd's and I always loved them, but I never bought Cd's until around that time. I picked the one where I recognized alot of songs. I still love it, it also introduced me to alot of great songs that I didn't know before then.

Black and Blue as my parents were divorcing and my first girlfriend had broken my heart. It's still my favorite because it helped me through the hard times. Many other Stones albums/CDs/8-tracks/cassettes have since then.

Rockman, if you paid $5.25 for an album in "65" you paid alot of money! You must have been on one of the coasts? I paid $3.09 for my first Stones album, "Between The Buttons" in "66" I think.

The first Stones albums I heard were from the library. I recorded them (on cassette).
I became a fan in 1991 and the first album released after that was Wandering Spirit (I never noticed back then Keith released Main Offender)... so that was in fact the first one I bought.
If it has to be a stones album: Voodoo Lounge.
