Ya-Ya's -- new, March 1973. Still one of my favourite albums. I've listened to it so much that I don't even need to play it! It's hard-coded in my brain's chemical memory!

To Mago,

Around and Around was available in UK as import - it was my first one too - but as birthday present. Which makes me wonder.......how many of us received our first Stones' album as a present?

My age shows: the first stones album I bought, was the London Years on CD (pre-SACD). I had just gotten a CD player and wanted to hear some of the songs on it. I got rid of it (gave it to a cousin), and now I regret it, especially for "Under assistant..."

I listened to "The Rolling Stones", 12x5 and Aftermath witch belonged to my father the first 12 odd years of my life. Then i got Flashpoint for my thirteenth birthday. Quickly after that i bought my first stones album Out Of Our Heads!

27th December 1977 - Get Stoned, a compilation very similar to Rolled Gold. I had wanted it for Christmas but my parents refused to buy it, so I bought it myself. This was followed by Love You Live (still my favourite official live album), and I have been hooked since.

LET IT BLEED at Eva's Records. I used to ride my bike down there all the time. Her store was in an old abandoned taxi cab office decorated up in love beads and lava lamps. It had several little rooms where you could go play the records before you decided to buy. She's been dead a long time. Thanks Eva!

My 1st single was Honky Tonk Women...that cow bell and guitars. Then my 1st Stones lp was Ya-Ya's . I was really hooked then. Even the cover grabbed me right away. What a classic offering.

The very first was the "Tumbling Dice"/"Sweet Black Angel" single in 1972. I was 15. Still love that mono mix--guitars up front, Jagger's voice mixed down, as if he was trying to shout above the din. The stereo mix on "Exile", when I bought it later, was actually a letdown.

In 1968 I bought the single 'Have You Seen Your Mother Baby'. That and its flip side 'Who's Driving Your Plane' remain two of my favorite Stones songs of all times. That year I also bought the Got Live LP, totally in mono which actually sounded better than the stereo version. That album remains one of my favorites in spite of its poor production. Who cares? The Stones sounded just like that back then.

I saw The Stones on the tv. in 1990 and copied SW from my neighbour. After getting Jump Back and buying Wandering Spirit, Voodoo Lounge was the first Stones-record I bought.
But before that, offcourse I had to buy Love Is Strong...
