Yeah, they call me Mr. Pitiful, yeah, baby, that’s my name
They call me Mr. Pitiful, that’s how I got my name
And nobody will understand here, what can make a man feel so blue
They call me Mr pitiful, cause I lost someone just like you

Yeah, they call me Mr. Pitiful, baby, that’s my name
They call me Mr. Pitiful, that’s how I got my fame, yeah
And no one seems to understand, what make a man feel so blue
They call me Mr pitiful, cause I lost someone just like you, yeah, yeah, yeah

How can I explain to you what make a man feel so blue
How can I evade this life when everything goes wrong, yeah, call me Mr.

Yeah, they call me Mr. Pitiful, yeah, now baby, that’s my name
Yeah, they call me, call me, call me, call me Mr. Pitiful
Now baby, that’s, that’s how I got my name
But nobody, nobody seems to understand, what make a man feel so goddamn blue
They call me Mr pitiful, cause I lost someone just like you, yeah

Mr. Pitiful, that’s right, that’s right, yeah, how can I explain to you
How can I explain everything, how can I, how can I
How can I explain everything that’s going wrong, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, and everybody wanna sing this sad, sad, sad, sad song

The Stones' version has no redeeming qualities. It was a low point of their career when they started doing all those terrible cover versions around the time of the Licks/A Bigger Bang tours. Love Train, Get Up Stand Up and Night Time Is The Right Time are other offenders. If you can't do it better than the originals then don't bother.

It's about paying tribute to the masters that were an inspiration to start what became
the Greatest Rock 'n Roll Band in the World.
And that's just what it is.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

A useless, rote cover.

It's a darn sight better than Under The Boardwalk. I really loathe that cover version, and My Girl, too.

Yeah, really boring version, that sounds very antiseptic. Very little guitar action, and the horns carry it... Could have been cool, like Imagination, but they watered it down. And Mick just can't carry it.

Even the original isn't worth listing....let let alone a bad cover

Did I just read that correctly? Otis Redding's 'Mr Pitiful' isn't worth a listen? You need your ears cleaned out NICOS.

I like it. A good homeage to the master.

Another thumbs down from me - I'm not that fond of the original, and this doesn't add anything to it. I agree about this group of covers - they invented a "soul cover slot" in the setlist for some reason (probably they just enjoy playing them, or to give the guitars a rest while the horns show off) but none of them work very well.

Just out of curiosity Bard is there any Rolling Stones performed song you don't like?

I like it. I think its a good arrangement. To my ears it doesn't sound like an exact copy. I just wish they had tried on an earlier tour when Keith's Chops were better.

Wow, this is an unpopular track! I liked it since the first time I heard it. Mick sings it really well.

Just checking now. Found a mallet. Er, think I saw a chainsaw in there. I'm going back in. Back in a minute.
