I've just caught on.. This is all conjecture as far as dates and locations... It is impossible they won't play stadiums during good weather. It's 5 times the people in the audience, a stage is a small issue. There have to be companies that have extraordinary ones ready, stick some lips on it, if Chuck is on it it's decorated.

At this point why do they need to be seen live? Or heard live? I've seen them plenty of times and they ain't getting better looking. They may sound okay, but they're not going to sound better than they have. They've already peaked music wise on the stage. Keith can't even rip off the occasional interesting lead anymore. Let the suckers pay and we'll get a decent DVD of it at some point.

A lot of filming is done at L.A. Union Station. one section if often used as a stage when bands film videos, those who are familiar with Union Station, it's that area just to the right as you enter from Alameda.

actually, after the Dodger game tonight, I will be dropped off there to catch the train to where my car is parked. I'll check out the area for any "activity".

They are in LA rehearsing. I'd bet the announcement will be pre-recorded by Mick and Keith. I'd bet they announce all of the 2013 dates, including Hyde Park.

This will air at 12 noon in NYC, Toronto, etc.

Tickets should go on sale by Friday of this week, I'd say.

smoking smiley

*Now where will the rehearsal gig be?*

Agree on that, but I am sure there will be a Presale on rs.com as in October.

Oh yes, possibly. I'd forgotten about that! tongue sticking out smiley

AND FOR PEOPLE WORRYING ABOUT THE TIME OF THE ANNOUNCEMENT.......12 NOON IN NYC, TORONTO, ETC. 12 NOON EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME!

I heard someone say they thought about doing a thing at Union Station...so not something recorded; anyone got info?
Whatever the location my first guess would be an in person announcement because of the much better impression that would make. At the same time that would generate lots of questions about ticket prices...

Union Station would be very cool indeed. The only problem with that is the weather in Toronto. It's cold and still very much winter. But.....inside Union Station would be warm and cosy.

Union Station is also close to the Gardiner Expressway, Lakeshore Boulevard for an easy escape. It's also fairly close to the Island Airport.

Keith likes using the Island Airport (I still call it that after so many years!) and it would be an easy hop, skip and jump from NYC. (The Island Airport is now called the Billy Bishop Airport!).

Patience please.......it's almost Wednesday!

Cocaine Eyes, you're making The Stones look bad with all this cold weather talk. Come on. People can still function in colder weather. Since when are The Stones this precious unit that cannot be exposed to cold temperatures whatsoever or else they'll freeze to death or catch a cold and die. That's silly. We're talking about making an announcement not running a marathon in the nude.
P.S. There's also a Union Station in LA...

Many apologies! But have pity on me.....I'm waaaaay up north in Muskoka where the winds are howling, the blizzards are blizzarding and we've got snow squalls everywhere.

I must say though, it's really pretty and peaceful!!

I recall Jagger doing a video shoot in a studio on Toronto's Mercer Street many years ago and it was January. All he did was complain to Miranda Guinness about how he needed a warm scarf to keep his neck from getting a chill!! He griped during the entire video shoot!! (I was freezing as well, though).

Ah just get some Fisherman's Friends. I hear he was all over those when he had the sore throat here in T.O in '97.

Another reason they are in LA is that's where the promoter is based, as opposed to previous tours where Cohl was based here.

Wonder how many cities the billboards have appeared in? I would think that those cities would be ones that would be part of the tour like the one that just popped up in Toronto? Haven't heard of any in Vancouver (yet).

Well it's been said before but they DO NOT have a stadium stage ready to go and apparently don't want to spend cash on it, guess they don't feel they need to bother...

I still think it has as much to do with their comfort level as the cost of a stadium stage. Keith has talked and written about the dubious joys of playing outside, where God joins them..in other word's where they have no control over the weather, and that was when they were a lot younger. I would guess that for some of them at least, part of the deal with touring was that they stay inside where they can be protected from the elements and at their ages I don't blame them for that. The outside venues across the pond are one offs, as the Brits like to say.

Yep the Pyramid Stage and the Hyde Park Hard Rock are stock standard stadium config's just plug in...

Do they really need another Fisher Behemoth, been and done, strip it back Iron Maiden style? Plus it's all about the screens anyway even in an arena, and I liked the one they used last year.

HOPE following will be helpful.

LA People -- how many of you are going to try to get to Staples Center?...
How many far from LA are planning to try and get tickets? More thoughts to follow on this.

LONDON People -- when I saw the Stones at HYDE PARK in 1969 it was a true happening -- almost a quarter of million people were there or nearby listening. No Seats and we could have cared less. This was a true first.

THIS TIME...my English friends say that Stones are only allowed to have 65,000 and seats with be limited. Pauly Waul and Gazza are undoubtedly the two people who will have helpful advice especially when it comes to those who are flying in and have never been to Hyde Park before.

Rolling Stones set to announce more UK gigs in summer tour which could rake in £40m

Fans, especially ones with deep pockets, will be delighted to hear the rock legends are going on the road again, with some dates in Britain

By Hannah Hope
3 Apr 2013

The Rolling Stones are rocking all the way to the bank with a new tour that could land them £10million each.

But fans are again expected to pay through the nose to see the pop veterans, with some reports claiming tickets may cost up to £330.

Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts will pick up around £650,000 a show from the summer tour.

The band are already booked in for June’s Glastonbury festival – and many thought that would be their last outing.

But followers, especially ones with deep pockets, will be delighted to hear the rock legends are going on the road again, with some dates in Britain.

A source close to the band insisted any UK dates would not price out all fans, with suggestions some tickets would be available for £95 which is “cheaper than Madonna”.

The insider added: “Some of the tour tickets are going to be costly but this is the biggest band in the world.

“There will be dates which will suit all pockets.”

The band started rumours of a tour on Good Friday when they posted a mysterious message on their official website.

It read “Five days and counting..” and had a link to a live clip from their comeback dates at the end of last year.

Billboards emblazoned with Start Me Up and other song titles alongside the Stones’ signature tongue logo also cropped up around America, with heavy hints on their Twitter account.

Loyal fans were left dismayed when the band announced standing tickets for the band’s O2 gigs in London last November would cost £375.

The cheapest available – and far from the stage at the giant venue – were £95 and the most expensive, VIP hospitality, went for £950.

Back then, guitarist Ronnie Wood defended the sky-high prices.

The 65-year-old said: “We’ve already spent a million on rehearsing in Paris. And the stage is going to be another few million. And the lights.

“We feel no bad thing about ticket prices. We’ve got to make something.”

But fans who want to see another rock legend, Bruce Springsteen at Hard Rock Calling in East London this June, will only have to fork out £69.75.
