Oooh! My favorites ofthe top of the old noggin would be:

4) Far Away Eyes
5) Neighbors

Hmmmm, Monsieur Shrimp, do I detect a not so hidden meaning in your choice?

No, It's the only good song on Dirty Work.....(Deidre might disagree) Good guitar part(s). Worried about you solo is also briljant (and for the 127th time, it's NOT Wayne Perkins!!!!!)

Ahhh, thanks for clarifying Potted. But Ronnie only plays the briefest of fills on Had It With You and almost all ofthe guitar is pure Keith, if memory serves.

True...........maybe it was a hidden meaning after all! (Don't tell her)
The Perkins part was no hidden meaning AT ALL (just for the record)

Shrimp.......it's not Perkins......it's Taylor!!!!!!! (whoops).

Cafaro,

It's Keith doing lead on You Gotta Move on LYL. Ronnie noodles on ..er..'rhythm.'
Slave solos - also Keith.

But if I had a favourite 'official' live RW solo (I mean lead guitar part) it would be his Hot Stuff one on LYL. I did wonder (before seeing them in '76) how he could possibly follow Mandel on that one. But he (along with Bill's bass) certainly creates a frantic and vivid intensity on LYL.

Nice topic, finally something positive about Ronnie.

in no particular order...

Beast of Burden
Hey Negrita
Far Away Eyes
Black Limousines
Some Girls
Gunface (I had thought it was Keith playing the leads)

And his overall contributions to the Some Girls and Dirty Work albums are worth mentioning. As well as his general position in the group to sort of work in between Mick and Keith as a peace maker of sorts. Ronnie's stuff for the Faces is another, story. These were his prime years with great guitar playing and song writing!!

Don't forget "Out of tears".

Have you ever lent somebody $20 and never seen them again? It was probably worth it.

5. Before They Make Me Run

Ronnie plays lead gtr on Hang Fire. (Just love the way that guitar and the bass counterpoint each other).

<Ronnie plays lead gtr on Hang Fire>

Keith plays lead on Hang Fire. One of his better leads, actually.

Well, I always assumed it was Keith on rhythm and ('therefore') Ronnie on lead. Sounds like Ronnie too. But for now will assume yopu are correct and I'll enjoy another listen.

And it gives me the chance to be thinking of another favouirite Ronnie moment........

........bass on Shattered.

<Well, I always assumed it was Keith on rhythm and ('therefore') Ronnie on lead.>

It's hard on TY to tell who's playing because of the lack of credits. For instance, I didn't know that Townsend was on Slave. But on Hang Fire Keith switches directly from the most dominant rhythm guitar to the lead, which is a fat and cool Chuck Berry-lick (when Ronnie plays the Berry-licks, he always throws in some faster moves).

Ronnie plays open E slide and second rythm guitar on Hang Fire, first rythm and solo is Keith. Wood plays rythm guitar and saxophone on Had it With You, IMO the best song of that album. And about Worried About You, just forget it.

Anyways, my best Wood moments:

1. Shattered and Beast of Burden from Hampton 1981. The weaving with Keith here is encredible, not from this earth. On BoB Keith starts a lick that gets picked up y Ronnie and then tossed in between. Fantastic.
2. Any "Let it Bleed" version from the 1981 tour. Wood's slide in open E is what makes the song.
3. When the Whip Comes Down, Detroit 1978: Wood's part makes this song.
4. Miss You, original LP version. This is Wood's song as much as it is Wyman's song. But really strange Wood's parts are erased on all version released on compilations such as Jump Back and 40 Licks.
5. Gimme Shelter from 1975. One of the few occaisions Wood tries to play something that gets close to a Taylor part, and he shows he can do it. 1972-versions are great for the raw energy, 1975 versions have the same angst as the original versions.

<Wood plays rythm guitar and saxophone on Had it With You>

Actually, Keith plays the boogie and Ronnie the Berry-licks on Had It With You (If not, there must be another rhythm track that I haven't noticed?)

Another thing that makes this song great is the attempt of recording without bass, letting the sax and Keith's dirty guitar cover for it.

I would like to add Before They Make Me Run, album version.

Lies is also a track that has to be mentioned. We can like the song (I do) or not, but Ronnie's contributions are brilliant on this song.

Ronnie does some great guitar work on the 81 boots I've listened to. Apart from Shattered, Beast Of Burden and Let It Bleed, as Mathijs stated, I really love Woody's playing on Neighbours. In fact I love all his work from 1975 to 1983. His solo in Too Tough is really great.
