memphis - instrumental song

Hi there,

I've been searching quite a lot, but I can't find more information about the instrumental song "Memphis". All I know is, that it is from a bootleg named "Rarities Vol 20" (1994), song no 7, recorded October 27, 1964, unreleased.
I also read it is from the BBC. That's what "imaStonesGirl1" states on her video on Youtube:

I also uploaded the song to Youtube, in "enhanced" sound quality.

if the link is dead, check this one on Vimeo video: [player.vimeo.com]

Is there anybody who can tell me more about this song? Who played what, where it was recorded, IS it the Rolling Stones that played it, etc.

It's the Andrew Oldham Orchestra, and Mephis probably has no Stone on it at all. It sounds like Jimmy Page on guitar.

There are also several versions of this one about, called Strictly Memphis or Going to Memphis - this is all I can find on YouTube but it exists in better quality on the Dirty Work outtakes collection Crushed Pearl:

I dont get the connection other than Memphis being in the title...the ALO orchestra one is the Chuck Berry tune..

o.k. Mathijs, so it's the Andrew Loog Oldham orchestra.
I didn't expect that!

Ironbelly: I searched on Soulseek, which results in The Rail Roaders with Ian Stewart, a song called Stu Ball '66 and also a "Stu Ball '66" with Keith Richards
All Andrew Loog Oldham orchestra stuff. Maybe later "Memphis" will turn up.

A search with Rail Roaders with Google results in "Memphis Tennessee (inst)" on IORR

Thanks, this cleared up a lot. I will go on until I find a download, for the only one I have is a mp3 in 192Kb quality, I want a flac.

Again, thanks a lot!!
