Try the Doors' Bright Midnight Archives series for some fine internet only live albums. Most are from 1970 and seem to be taken from the shows that were taped for Absolutely Live, generally, they're pretty good.
Thanks Gazza, I'll check that out. I have noticed at record stores that they are releasing old Doors shows similar to the Grateful Dead's Dick's picks. This would be a dream come true if they ever did this with the Stones.
Actually - the Doors Bright Midnight program seems to have been abandoned...the Detroit '70 recording was followed by 3 from the Aquarius Theater in La ('68) then the ridiculous Boot Yer Butt project....then, nada!
The Aquarius was July '69, Tod - I think some of Absolutely Live comes from there too (the pics of Jim with the beard on the sleeve also, I believe, come from those shows)
thanks for the update on the projects. I bought a few of the early ones but didnt get any more for some reason. I guess I "butted" out at the right time!
Hey _ I saw the Doors at the Aquarius before it was called that, it's name back in 66/67 was the Hullabaloo, and their 1st album had just been released!!!
Jim was wild in those days, high on Acid, girls thought he was strange but the music was spot-on!! MLC
