Might as well pick up some batteries and a snickers too...

Don't they make Mars Bars anymore ?

Mars is too controversial....you never see odd stories about where a snickers has been. But either way if its Mars they need to get off the therapist's couch then get a few....let's go!!

Mars bars are popular outside the US.

Ahhhh, so they're a bit like soccer and Oasis?

No one plays soccer outside the US. Except maybe Canada. Copycats.

Peace,
Mr DJA

Let's not insult the Rugby players....they keep referring to something called football...playing ball with a foot...Ha! Can you imagine?

I hope they'll come to Budapest.
A good place for The Rolling Stones.
(Or Vienna, Munich, Prague, Belgrade?)
East European audiences are great, enthusiastic, much younger because the Stones are not a nostalgia act in these places.
The Rolling Stones are still new for East Europe cause they were forbidden for decades (till the 90's)
(The same situation in South America.)

Just like it took me more than just snickers and energy gel's to climb the hardest part of Kilimanjaro last month, I think it takes more than just Red Bull and Snickers to do many shows this year. We will not be spoiled, but we will be happy - satisfied...

Sorry to stray off topic, but I gotta ask PeanutGallery...how do you pick your text color? Do you have a planned color or just go with whatever one you feel like that day?

This is bothering me...

Latebloomer —

I picked it up from someone in a user group. It makes picking out the new part of the post so much easier. I'm lazy or haven't you noticed. I use the same color as much as possible. Sometimes gotta add one, but again, to differentiate and make it easier for readers to shake out the new. We are drifting but not far.

here's the real elephant in the room, stones fans

KR: "Once the juggernaut starts rolling, it ain't gonna stop. An extra gig
here, a place we never played there, things go on."

Well, sorry, it did not go on, it did stop.

Of all the "many" offers supposedly under consideration, either extending
50 and Counting into the new year was not one of them, or was turned down for
some reason.

That's BIG. The staging is there, the band is rehearsed, all those costs have
been absorbed, so ticket prices could have come down a notch or two, and yet...
NOTHING. All they would have needed to do is send Taylor to the tailor for some
stage clothes, and they could have been playing around the world at this very
moment.

So it is not unreasonable to assume there was a perception on the part of
the promoters of insufficient demand (to meet the Stones cash-on-the-barrelhead
requirements). Why else would the Stones not be playing right now?

Right now is when Mick, and many of y'all, have claimed that everybody in
the band is "at the top of their game", with the Stones and their fans
raring to go. The juggernaut completely fueled up. Yet once again bogged
down in the sands of time.

Tell me, what is going to be so different in eight months, except needing a new
stage, new rehearsals, and new hype to soak the same old fans, flying in from
around the world, with the same old show? Tarted up just enough to get by.

there is something very sad and melancholy about your post. Probably true no doubt, but somehow very despondent.

I don't think they will announce anything. No need for that. Just look at the history from last year:

Monday Oct 15 : Announcing 4 shows in London + Newark
Thursday Oct 25 : First club show at la Trabendo
Sunday Nov 25 : First public show London O2

Bjornulf — it's hard to call this history. It was more a matter of getting on the board and not missing their "50th" — don't you think? Just saying, I don't think that these past 5 shows, will have any relationship to what rolls out, then they do roll whatever out.

...

I am pretty sure they will announce short time, block by block, few commitments, ....

I suspect so too based on their long term history and some other details to be gotten to further down if time at the moment.

Looks like it might mean another winter tour!! ( or at least they'll start the tour in late fall/winter. That would be fine if they're working on a new cd.

The 2012 shows were a "teaser" for bigger and better things to come in 2013. A new CD is a certainty, followed by some form of tour. And don't rule out the possibility of some guest appearances along the way to the tour. I would think they would be up and rolling (touring) by next summer.
Then you got your wish, Jack. Welcome back. (I thought we wouldn't meet again until Stones heaven, or something like that...) Nice to see you, tho! Stick around.

Just posted for Toronto sports fans, that the Blue jays have adjusted there home schedule for the end of august

I wonder why they would have to adjust dates ,,, I cant see rogers opening up the dome just for any event, when it was a scheduled home game against yankees,, so they must have something in mind that will fill the place,,

"Schedule alert: Home game originally scheduled for August 29 vs. Yankees is now August 26 at 7:07pm"

i have no idea whats going on just throwing it out there

There is indeed something that doesn't quite add up here...clearly the offers didn't "sound about right" to Mick and Keith. That was always going to be the risk after robbing the bank with these 5 shows and setting records for gross. I've said it for a while that the only way they can hope to top that is filling stadiums next summer at a higher than usual price...

...now maybe a good can come from a bad and while they have to sit out the Winter and Spring due to their greed and/or feeling of "going down" after the financial high of these five shows, they can record some new tracks and build up some hype. That would fit in with Mick saying last year he wanted to record a new album as well as the good reception of the two new tracks. Besides if they didn't get what they wanted for the winter/spring dates they might be worried about filling stadiums this summer so every little extra hype will help.

Re: Stones Tour 2013

I think what is going on is fairly obvious. Time is being placed between the 50th anniversary shows and any tour. The Stones will record a new album....hence Mick's comment that April is "too soon." They likely will record in the spring and go out on the road in the latter half of 2013 like they have so many times before. No Mick Taylor and back to business as usual......set list including a half a dozen new songs surrounded by the War Horses and a smattering of random old material.

You're talking about 1/3 of the set list comprised of new material ?

I seriously doubt that.

I just hope they don't start trimming the set list to 18 or 9 songs in under 2 hours. The length of the anniversary shows was a major plus imo.

2 shows a week is 5 hours work. Not exactly exhausting.

Well, they played 2 in December and if as I suspect they record a new record, they will have ample material to add a handful of songs. I don't see them touring on a 50th anniversary legacy, it's over....they will move on to the "and counting" part and record a new album in an effort to demonstrate they are and can remain artistically relevant.....despite what the whingers on this board think, LOL! I can't see Jagger doing anything different. I didn't mean to imply 6 per show, but they will rotate in the new material. One last "blaze of glory" as Keith said.

Ain't gonna be no tour. They're too damned old.

Residencies in major markets like they just did in London and New York is the likely business model from here on out - until the inevitable. You are all correct that they have the 50th Shows all dialed in, staged, etc. THAT's what they'll cart around to the residencies.

Tell that to Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Phil Lesh and others touring at 70+.

There is no reason they can't do an appropriately scaled "tour" comprised over longer runs in less cities. And, exactly what else are they going to do with their lives? Playing music is it. They've sat around for years now.....
