The Stones don't do concept albums, they do marketing campaigns.

they do victory laps, too. they're not as one-dimensional as some would have it

That explains the stage they used. It all makes sense now.

Recording studios in cities like NYC and LA still have their place for post-production and mixing to some extent, but with todays technology any old house in any old city will do.

The key to getting the Stones to write more music together, imho, would be to get them to a house/compound where they were all comfortable enough to hang together for as long as it took to create the tunes. It could be anywhere.

As far as the local music having an effect on the new songs, I would vote for New Orleans. The groove that that wonderful city eminates could only do wonders for the music. I would also think that Austin, Texas could give Keith and Ronnie a shot in the arm due to the huge amount of guitar based music based there.

NYC would be almost dead last on my list. peace

Just write 12 good songs, no matter where, how, acoustic or electric, pop or rock or experimental or old blues stuff. Find the real inspiration and do it.

Nashville - plenty of guitar based music in that town.

ronnie's not allowed in austin. mac lives here and ronnie's not allowed to be with him. i suppose they could ship mac outta town, but that seems a little extreme.

As long as it's not a small house, I think the entourage of the guitars alone might be a problem. peace

I don't understand the "get back to New York themes and recording studios"-- wasn't Some Girls recorded in Paris ??

Absolutely right

The edgy, arty New York of 1978 is long gone. Maybe they could write about insufferable Williamsburg hipsters or being denied 24-ounce soft drinks by Mayor Bloomberg.
you have a very good sense of humour .my compliments.

SOME of had to of been written there! That counts for SOMEthing! I mean, you don't think Respectable was written elsewhere and worked on for a long time do you? It sounds like they wrote it while they recorded it.
