Favorite Jagger Performances in the last 20 years

What are some of your favorite Jagger performances in the last 20 years?

Here is one of mine . . . its an intense moment during the show. I think those moments have been few and far between since '81, but I have to admit, Mick really cuts loose on this one.

Cheers

Mick's exuberant performance at the 2011 Grammys was a sure sign that there would be more Rolling Stones in the new decade [meaning, of course, that he could still perform at that level].

Out of officially released material, for me that would be the Olympia show '03

Olympia 2003 for sure !
He did an awesome (yet shorter) performance at Mogador in Paris, great singing, great dancing, great interacting. Who could guess they were in de middle of rehearsals watching Mick.
I'd also mention the final O2 show of 2007

What about that growlin' blues with Jeff Beck at the White House?

From the last show the cut with the Black Keys comes to mind. The times when you can tell where Jagger genuinely cuts loose and forgets himself, and lighting cues, and post show interviews. When it is just in the moment about the music.

Best performance of the last 20 years.....I'd say Webster Hall 1993

I like the opening at the recent first O2 - "I wanna be your man".

It's mad.

But great.

If considering special moments, I'd say that Wild Horses was rarely sung with as much heart as during the last 50 & counting dates.

This was a fun clip on SNL from DEC 2001.

Can't find the entire segment.

Although I loved all 5 of the Anniversary shows, I was not thrilled with opening with " I Wanna Be Your Man"....never loved the song, not even in the 60's. Of ALL the songs to start with....GEEEE...anyway, I'd say one of the finest was his duet w/ Beck at the White House show in the fall. I agree with you, LAZZYBONES.
I also think that the version of " As Tears Go By" that he performed at the Radio City Robin Hood benefit in March of 2006 had to rank right up there with highlites. It was of course w/ the Stones but Mick and Keith stood together at the front of the stage under one spotlight, Keith accompanied Mick on acoustic guitar...Ah, it made me cry. A real Stones moiment.
Yes, " Wild Horses" has never been performed with more feeling than on these anniversary shows and I was lucky enough to have seen one, in Brooklyn. Real spellbinding!!

SNL, with the Foo Fighters and Arcade Fire. He reminded us who Mick Jagger was.

I quite enjoyed this as well.

The White House gig was also great...even if he was a bit winded after the first number.

Definitely this one...hands down. More than anything it showcased what an amazing performer Mick is...he had the attention of every single person in that audience.

"Out Of Control", MSG, 1/14/98.

It's the only time I've ever seen him become truly unhinged in person - and it was by far the most intense live music experience of my life.

But yeah, "That's How Strong..." from Olympia and "Everybody Wants Somebody" from the Grammys are right up there. Hell, even his intro guesting with U2 at the R&R HOF anniversary show was close. There's something about Mick showing up on someone else's stage that just says "Yeah - THIS is how it's done". You'd either have to be a huge fan or a total idiot to cede the spotlight to Mick because he's going to make you look 1 inch tall in comparison. The fact that Bono is literally 1 inch tall is beside the point, of course.

The recent shows were his overall best Stones performances for an entire show in the last 20 years. The Olympia Show was very good, especially That's How Strong My Love Is. Also there is a version on FOur Flicks bootleg tracks of Beast of Burden where he let's himself go a little bit. Also his solo performance back in 92-93 where he played Have You Seen Your Mother Baby, Evening Gown and Don't Tear Me Up. I forget the venue it was small.

Webster Hall of course was very very good.
THSMLI too. There are more songs they/he performed very very good.

But IMHO nothing beats a complete show with the Stones.
So I still believe the Paradiso shows, especially the second night I think, is absolutely their best since the mid seventies with MT.
They all played excellent there and MJ was...magic, in such a small club for a complete show (20 & 23 songs!).
And with a very very interesting set list they did not repeat after that...(Brixton and Olympia had more warhorses).

That was a hot gig!
Great Mick, good band - and I particularly always liked Curt B'.s drumming/ sound.
