For the first time since Hurricane Isaac I emptied the entire contents of my fridge into the garbage. Got a little stinky.

What's the Latest from the Bayou?

There is a 105 year old drainage pump in New Orleans that broke down just before Zeta approached. Fortunately it was more of a wind event. Where I live the highest wind peak from what I have found so far is 68 mph. I was out walking around during the peak of the storm, which, being on the weak side, was just a heavy breeze. Other areas had much higher winds, especially in Mississippi.

So the Lake L...(can't remember name) is impacted by rise of the Miss River?

Lake Pontchartrain.

It can be impacted by the river when the ACOE opens the spillway but it's mostly effected by storm tides and storm surges.

Where I live was the "original" Gulf Coast of Louisiana and bizarrely has nothing to do with the Mississippi River, which is not very far away. It used to be the entire delta of the Tchefuncte River, which moved west and is where Madisonville is located.

The Mississippi River created the lake - it was all Gulf Of Mexico before the river grabbed ahold of the western portion of the Chandeleur island chain that was basically a sandbar where New Orleans is now.

Glad to see Tugboat is ok .... Why would there be a nuc Sub in Drumcondra Bay?

Rich Folk in area must want a strong defense? I would think that the Bay is only 11-12 feet deep- speculating

Big change from earlier models having it stay in the Caribbean. Will mainly be a rain issue for S FLA.

It’s a mid-autumn gift, a balmy 14’C in the wilds of Canada. Apparently Keith has a place nearby.

Eta is certainly giving the models a difficult time. The 29th tropical cyclone and 28th named storm of the season will be dancing around the Caribbean, Bahamas and Gulf Of Mexico between now and Monday and into the Atlantic by next weekend or so.
