I have heard that there are devastating wildfires in Africa as well. There's not much in the media about that and what I found always is like "...but that's just how that particular ecosystem works, happens all the time"

Yeah, that's sometimes true and yeah, you can't help everyone. When you know people in a particular area that are hurting, some people choose to help them. And yeah, I already know lots of organizations collect money and don't help people in need. It's always smart to do a little research first.

Trying to help people but I don't trust my own research under these circumstances...

Hopefully, our fire fighters are providing support. We have some great ones here that could help out. That is one moving picture.

You are such a decent fellow, Rockman.
The soulmate we all wish to have.
I see this silent suffering of human being, animals and nature, and I join my unholy prayers with yours.
Peace, mate. It will heal.

I was going to post a pic of Dumcrondra Bay on the silly yet humorous "Tell Me Forum 2042 AD " thread. Of course recent US national news (Fox) say things are improving. - Let us know what missions need support- I want to help - (like many others!!!)

Those trees will grow again, but sadly the wildlife that died wont come back,

its such a tragedy, hope it can be sorted soon.

Unfortunately the wild fires in Australia have been an increasing event and will continue, just as the flooding in the Midwest/Northeast/Southeast in the US will continue: steering patterns are changing.

That also results with things like Harvey, Dorian and Imelda. Drought in Alberta that will be a disaster. Big thaws in Alaska. The Gulf Stream has already started to alter course. If it does, Europe will turn into the new North pole.

Have been in Western Australia since late November. Closest bushfire so far was about 2 kms away. Staying watchful.

I'd be a tad bothered using that URL to give to the Red Cross. The URL on the Red Cross web site is DIFFERENT and is [fundraise.redcross.org.au]

Please be careful not to be scammed - there are some really bad people out there making tainted money from all of this.

Yea u are right. Recently Life Labs in Canada was hacked. Last year 25 hackers were caught in
New Delhi, police had TV station come down to lawn they were sitting to put them on TV news. Great going. I hear lots more in Mumbai. Their days are limited I hope.

I posted yesterday about my reservations about the URL posted here. It's not a scam.

I would however advise donors that it is a commercial organisation that takes a cut of the donations.

Here are its fees. [www.giveeasy.org]

So they are not scammers, but parasites.

If you want to donate, do so directly. In the case in question (Red Cross), this is the URL [www.redcross.org.au]

Don’t panic, it’s just patio furniture waiting for spring. I may have to go out if I need the BBQ...

West winds tonite and tomorrow on Lake Michigan to bring some kind-of big waves - the fetch isn't long enough to really get them going but it will be enough.
