This thread is great and uncovers lots of unanswered questions to our world's climates and creatures, which lurk in the night and strange cloud formations that remind one of someone, something or an animal from the lost or present world.

What a diff'rence a day made

BV--of all the wonderful info you have provided for us, perhaps the most useful has been the referral to the Norwegian weather site. It is amazingly accurate! My question is, why is it so much more accurate than that of all the other weather services? Don't they have access to the same info? Apparently not but not sure why.

The Mississippi River is going down. It was as close as it's ever been to jumping over to the Atchafalaya River, where it naturally wants to go, which would make Baton Rouge and New Orleans unlivable to years. Those cities would shut down because the Gulf Of Mexico would be in place of the river if it were to jump.

The Norwegian weather report site YR.no is government funded through a collaboration between The Norwegian Meteorological Institute and the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK).

So it is bascically funded by Norwegian tax money. The Norwegian Meteorological Institute, like any other national Meteorological Institute, has got all national and international weather data, down to local data and map info and altitude feeding in at all times.

No commercial site on the planet would be able to compete on these worldwide publicly funded meteorological live data, on a global scale, plus they do of course have all the anaytics and prediction work related to these data of these of course.

Chicago weather right now: In short, I don't undetstand a thing... At 7am, yes I am early bird due to the jet lag, ther was a mist, quite humid, 80% or so, but at 9am, it was even more humid, 95% or more, just like being in a wardrobe where 30-40 athlets shower, the humidity sticking to my jacket, wet grass and all of that... I hope this is Chicago early morning, and not like it will be during the whole tour!

Welcome to the Midwest

Geographically it's not the Midwest. It's in the (western) Northeast.

BV - don't come to New Orleans if you think Chicago is humid. Temperatures in mid-July tend to run in the mid 90s, with heat indices into the 100 teens.

Low humidity here is 60%, which is generally between 11 and 3PM.

Earthquakes numerous - So Cal

It is more of a geological event as opposed to atmospheric.

Regardless, I have not been in an earthquake. And hopefully, never. We will help these folks if things get out of hand.
