Florence pulled a Harvey.

Category has evolved. It's lesser status will now include the likelyhood of A LOT of rain.

Florence weakened because of two things: her speed was so slow that when she encountered a floor shallower than 300 feet of 80F water, which most likely occurred just to the west of the Gulf Stream, and is typical with hurricanes moving ashore.

Very weak steering currents, combined with a huge amount of moisture to deal with, let Florence do what she did, a lot like Harvey in '017.

An present and continuing occurrence.

Do occasionally see snakes … but they move like
lightning and most times will do their best to avoid you
BUT BUT BUT if its a Brown or a Tiger they'll come after ya
and the last thing you're thinking about then is snappin' a pretty picture of them …..

Always make heaps of noise when moving thru grassy areas esp in summer

Funnel Web …. NO NO Deadly and glad they hang-out in NSW... Keep em there …

Trap Door is friggin creepy but not highly dangerous

See heaps of Red-Backs but they are slow, sleepy... hate light...and hang in dark places …..

A friend of mine, Jock, was bitten by a King Brown while working in a Mango plantation. He didn't notice anything, just got a horrible headache, and started to spit blood.
He was given a cocktail of five anti-venoms as they wasn't sure what kind of of snake it was. His heart rate went down to 40 and his blood didn't clot. The doctors gave him a 50-50 chance. They found bite marks on his shin bone - not so deep thanks to the bone...maybe it was a baby snake. At some point he was given another dose of king brown anti-venom and after two weeks his blood started to clot normally again. It took him a few more weeks to get back on his feet.

Still super hot in Biarritz, France; 27C. We are on the Atlantic coast, on the border of Spain. Big surf!

Very hot here in Royan too, on the Atlantic Coast, 300 kms north of Biarritz. We've got the longest period of heat i've ever experienced, and i've been living here for 35 years. Two months in a row above 30C every day. And a record 41C late august at 6pm. A very unusual hot september, 21C right now at 10pm, one rainy day and two short storms in three months. The tourists are still there, very unusual too, restaurants and hotels owners have big smiles, air-conditioner sellers too, but farmers and winegrowers in the Bordeaux area, not so much. It's time to worry for our children right? (says the guy who take a plane pretty often only to see the Stones, yeah i know we're all guilty).

Earlier today I felt the breeze and watched the clouds head S/SE from Hurricane Michael. I found several sources that revealed that Michael indeed got up to category 5 status.

Third strongest hurricane to hit the US and Gulf Coast.

Oh, the foes will rise
With the sleep still in their eyes
And they'll jerk from their beds and think they're dreamin'
But they'll pinch themselves and squeal
And know that it's for real
The hour when the ship comes in
