We're a balmy 18 degrees and climbing. Should be in the low 40's later this week with rain. It's good things will melt off a bit, but with rain comes refreeze at night and the wonderful black ice. Have to sneak in a car wash before we get another Artic Blast!

So, you have to use these instead?
They can't be very effective north of Oslo?

-10,5 C. Half a meter snow depth. Snow crystals shining on top. Just beautiful. Like winter should be in this part of the world (Northern Sweden).

Somebody is messing with the thermostat. Six days ago, we hit a record low temperature for that date of -23C. Today we have hit a record high of +12C. Lovely cold drizzle on top of the snow and ice and salt. Make up your mind! (C’mon, spring!)

After last months massive Thomas Fire - which eventually became the largest wildfire in California history - there was a deluge of rain the other night...up to 10 inches in an hour!!!
The heavy rain took it's toll on the burned out mountains, and disaster struck in Montecito about 20 miles north of where I live.
Up to 17 people have perished and there's still some missing in the aftermath...very sad.

From the L.A. Times: Death toll rises to 17 in Montecito; 100 homes destroyed by mudslides

From the Daily Mail: Seventeen dead, 24 missing

From CNN: California mudslide survivors recall when the 'mud came in an instant'

Yesterday and today the weather has been as beautiful as can be (warm and sunny), and will stay this way for the next week or so with the possibility of more rain coming after that.

Freezing rain, sleet and snow expected today along the Gulf Coast.

This has been a horrible winter - and we're only halfway through January.

Wow!!! So that is real?
I saw on another website several posts and images/footage and decided it had to be the joke dujour... it is kind of a silly website that focuses on silly stuff and then builds on it, so I have learned to ignore some of it as BS... but DAYAM!!!

If this is real... what in the world is going on?
I saw one picture of roof flapping and then blowing off, an old old roof...
all several other freeky things, almost unreal.

But looking at Windy https:/ /www.windy.com if it was real... it seems to have calmed down.

Dang internet, there is no telling what is real or not these days
(e.g. according the internet it is a good idea to eat laundry detergent) so... who knows... confused smiley
