Explain how COLDER THAN MARS is any worse than Snowpocalypse or Snowmageddon? I agree it's ridiculous but so are those other ones (yet alone the hipster/hippie movement of zombies and the apocalypse, one of the stupidest dumbest ignorant alarmist things ever).

Bomb cyclone is from bombogenesis.

Bombogenesis, a popular term used by meteorologists, occurs when a midlatitude cyclone rapidly intensifies, dropping at least 24 millibars over 24 hours. [oceanservice.noaa.gov]

Hence the bomb part, the huge drop in pressure so fast. Unusual for a oceanic winter storm aka winter nor'easter. Part of the intensity of this one is it's feeding off of tropical moisture - it's been cruising over the Gulf Stream.
