shortly after Mick's harp solo on LARS (at 1:12:40) there appears this just-out-of-the-office guy with his tie loose dancing like a complete moron thereby occupying more than a square meter. A YUP that thinks that visiting a Stones concert in a tie, and overdoing the going-nuts part, is a therapy to deny the fact that he's boring as hell.
I think that regardless of the clothes we're referring to the same bloke.

In the same vid you also have this mid-40ies woman with long blond hair and glasses in the front row, who thinks that standing like a straight-up mummy with your hands in front of you (like she's driving a car) is considered dancing. Overall, no matter how good the quality of the BtB dvd, It got me thinking at the time that all american visitors of RS concerts are old, whereas in Europe (Bremen show '98 from same tour) the audiance was much more mixed. The St Louis ppv somewhat reminds me of an american group session with Microsoft's Steve Ballmer.

I just can't stop laughing at the moment, I thought it's only me who sees all these stupid people in the vids. And about the woman I'm absolutely sure I know who you mean, I remember when I first watched this B2B video with my brothers we constantly pressed the rewind button and almost exploded of laughing because she's really moving so stupid!!
The comparison with driving a car is hilarious!! And the expression on her face is the best!
There are more annoying people, I can also rememer a couple sitting very calm in their seats and watching everything through a binocular. The woman then notices that they are filmed and the man takes the binocular down and similes really stupid.

BTW: If there's one dude who looks like an ass when he's dancing it's the guy from the "Gimme Shelter" DVD who has a brown suede jacket on, moustache and a light blue shirt on. He looks like he went from his office straight to Altamont. LOL.

1 The worst thing about the Stones is their habit of releasing live albums and DVDs of their last few tours none of which really reflect the greatness of the Stones in their prime.
2 The lack of Stones live CDs/DVDs when they were in their prime particuarly the Taylor years.
3 The fact that they are now a money making machine and creatively bankrupt.

oh i pray for the day the stones go in the archives
and put out a dvd set of never seen before footage
from lets say 69-78, highly unlikely but you never know

Don't know why anyone would say one of the things they hate about the Stones is the type of fans (Mathijs) or about their radio play since either is not something the Stones can control.

For me its:

1. Keith and Ron not doing backup vocals and instead having all those back up singers (Blondie being the most pointless one). This also goes for the 10 horn players taking over songs that don't need horns at all like Jumpin Jack Flash or Miss You.

2. Of coarse, not releasing stuff from the vaults.

3. Set lists, they did do a better job last tour but would still like to hear some different stuff played instead of Start Me Up, You Got Me Rocking, Miss You and Tumblin Dice every night. (These songs I can't even listen to anymore.)

1. Just the 5 Stones should be on stage, with maybe one sax and one piano.

2. Keith playing a role as Keef instead of being himself. Less trying to upstage Jagger. Guitars should be much louder.

3. Need a new CD every couple of years.

In no particular order

-concert prices

-cringe factor to some stage antics, dress, album mixes

-won't release archives (especially concerts with Mick Taylor)

But when consider all the things I like about them this is nada!

1) That some otherwise great takes of important tracks make it on the albums, that they can’t seem to nail the tempo of (speed)! Ex.: « Star, Star », one of my favourite songs, and « Dancing With Mr. D » come to mind... These sound like Keith pushing Charlie on the fly, or something... but that’s no rehearsal! Spoils my fun somehow.

2) That their CD back catalogue is for the wealthy, who also got time of his/her hands to hunt for separate singles and rare tracks collections and so forth.

3) Like another poster has it, that they don’t sing choruses together anymore, which is sort of the point of being a traditional vocal RnR band.

Well, what I like about this thread I have been thinking over five minutes - this is an egoistic approach - is that - yes - I have no answer -

1) their greed
2) their greed
3) their greed

everything bad that has to do with the Stones (eg their fan club, the type of fans they attract nowadays, their creative laziness) is as a result of the above.


Any other complaints are minor, IMO

...if I was allowed a 4th choice it would be Rolling Stones.com

Mind you, I could say a lot worse for other artists.

1. The length of time in between studio albums (it's been 8 years since BTB!)
2. They have to release a live album after every tour...not necessary!
3. Keith doesn't know how to write a good rock song for himself to sing anymore!

1) They didn't come to my parents' house in Hicksville, NY, in July 1972 and tell me parents that they were druggies or junkies. And they thought it would be quite a thrill to see all four NY shows that summer w/backstage access.

2) I wasn't invited backstage at the Seattle concert in 1975, when it was obvious to anybody w/any sense at all that I was the best looking and coolest fan in the crowd of 15,000. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

3) They didn't contact me in July 1978 and tell me there was a ticket waiting for me at the United Airlines ticket counter at Seattle airport, First Class return to Oakland, and an all access backstage pass AND a note from Jerry Hall shyly asking me if she could just give me one smooch on the lips!!!!!!!!!!!
