Globe award makes Clint`s day

Film legend Clint Eastwood was named best director at the Golden Globe awards, in a ceremony that also saw Britons Clive Owen, Ian McShane and Mick Jagger pick up honours.

Owen, 40, and Natalie Portman won supporting-actor awards for the drama Closer, while McShane, 62, took the TV drama actor award for the Western series Deadwood,

Composer Howard Shore took the best film score award for The Aviator while Mick Jagger and Dave Stewart won the song honour for Old Habits Die Hard from Jude Law's latest movie, Alfie.

BBC co-production The Life and Death of Peter Sellers was named best TV movie.

The Golden Globes, seen as a good indication of how the Oscars will be awarded next month took place amongst the usual glitz and glamour of Hollywood.

Other British hopefuls Kate Winslet and Imelda Staunton, who had lead actress nominations for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Vera Drake, left empty handed.

The Aviator won best dramatic film, giving it an edge at the Oscars.

Jamie Foxx of the Ray Charles film biography Ray, Hilary Swank of the boxing saga Million Dollar Baby, Annette Bening of the showbiz comedy Being Julia and Leonardo DiCaprio of The Aviator also boosted their Oscar odds by winning the top acting Globes.

In the TV categories, Desperate Housewives won for best musical or comedy series, while Teri Hatcher beat her show's co-stars Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman for best actress in a TV comedy.

Hatcher thanked US television network ABC for giving her "a second chance at a career when I couldn't have been a bigger has-been".

I can't waiy 'till Keith gives a comment on this. I'm sure it will be very funny. On another note: This will probably help the sales of the new album won't it? I mean it seems like The Stones have been eaing their way back into the spotlight lately. Am I wrong?

Who cares though?!? Mick Jagger is the only frontman left on this planet. Just take a look at the pictures... he's the real thing.

Well Kent, honestly I think Keith should shut the @#$%& up. Old Habits ain't the same quality as Angie or Wild Horses, but it was Mick who wrote 90% of the good songs from the nineties albums. This guy has been frontman of the greatest rock n roll band for over forty years and now he won a golden globe. I feel nothing, but great pleasure for Mick.

Mick commented on song writing - just mentioned him, Keith and Charlie, what about the ohters.....

"is dave stewart that short or is mick tall
or is it a little of both"

Mick isn't that short as mentioned - data from the 60'ies indicate somwhere around 1,75 m

The only REAL weird thing is that Dave is wearing Nailpolisch (hop this translated well); this really is out of fashion it's someting from the Jumping Jack Flash period / or 1968 !!!

Let me prove this to you by a picture:

Yuo see Keith has it Too, only 30-years earlier !!

He still lookes great! And no mather what Keith will say: Mick & Dave deserved those prices. Writing a soundtrack ain't the same thing as writing a good song for an alum for an already legendary band. And the more I listen to "Old habits Die Hard", the more a like it!

Way to go, Mick! And now finnish the ultimate bluesrock album with The Stones...

Not much news in the following link [www.rollingstone.com] , but Mick Jagger is making the headlines again. I am glad Jagger won and hopefully it will inspire his further work this year. It could be a very, very good year for Stones-fans.

Cheers,
Gunnar

Yes, it looks like Jagger is in a very good mood now, looks very vital, is productive, and get recognition - all that can only imply very good things for the Stones - their frontman is alive and well.

I don't accept the idea that Jagger, 61 years, supposed only to play with people as when he 19 years old... that idea of being loyal to one gang, preferable maybe for never matured teddy boy Richards, never have suited for mr. Jagger.. As a productive person Mick seems to be much bigger than his official image (and duty job), a frontman and the dynamo of The Rolling Stones. There is much more in him, and he knows that. For sure he would get bored being stuck only that one role. I admire his productive libido and determination; a hard working man indeed (Just listen what Pete Townshend says about him in Rock and Roll Circus extras).

Mick already said in 70's that "rock and roll bores him"; whadda ya think, has he changed his mind? I suppose not, really.
