Might As Well Get Juiced
(Mick Jagger / Keith Richards)

Ocean Way Recording Studios, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, US,
March 13 - July 1997

Mick Jagger - vocals, keyboards, harmonica
Keith Richards - electric guitar, electric slide guitar
Charlie Watts - drums
Ron Wood - electric guitar, electric slide guitar
Waddy Wachtel - electric guitar
Doug Wimbish - bass

If you really want to rip up your mind
If you want to take the lid of your life
If you want to reach on down in the sump
Take the little last dregs off the camel's back hump

And the wolves are howling right at your door
And the vultures wanna tear off some more
And your flesh is burning right off your bones
Your children kick you out of your home

If you really wanna tear up your mind, if you really wanna get yourself blind
Might as well get juiced, might as well get juiced

Hey Mama, what's this crazy game of sevens, eights and nines
I can't keep up with you baby
I'm gonna give you such a piece of my mind
When I get round to it, 'cause honey I'm abused, might as well get juiced, yeah

If you really want to melt down your mind
Crank it up to straight double time
If you really wanna have you some fun
Spit right down on everyone
If you got the strength to scream out: Hell why
The wheels of life is passing you by
You might as well get juiced, might as well get juiced

Some people like to get high on love, buss it off with alcohol
Give me a little taste of those fumes, yeah, I need a little boost
Because, the sweet things in life, how am I going to survive
I might as well get juiced, might as well get juiced
I might as well get juiced, a little bit confused, alright, alright

Produced by The Dust Brothers & The Glimmer Twins

First released on:
The Rolling Stones - “Bridges To Babylon” CD
(Virgin Records VJCP 25333) Japan, September 26, 1997

I used to like it. Now the sound of it is incredibly dated.

Great studio (Ocean Way), rather lame tune. All about Ronnie's world at that time. peace

That's ironic considering Mick was trying to sound up-to-date by incorporating into the song the "industrial rock" sound that peaked in the 90's.

Love the album, but it's my least favorite song on it. Just sounds like noise to me. And hey, at the time I was 17 and into groups like The Prodigy and Chemical Brothers, so I'm not being an old fuddy duddy who can't stand those types of sounds. The Stones are always exploring various genres and influences, so I can't fault them, and I like it when they branch out and experiment, this sound just doesn't suit them in my opinion though. Glad to see some people like it, I personally skip it. It's interesting though, I'll give it that.

I think it's got a funky sound going on. Kind of fun to listen to but definitely not my favorite from that record. I prefer How Can I Stop, You Don't Have to Mean It, and Already Over Me...smoking smiley

it's just a basic blues song with some modern adornments...got that lowdown, raw exile-ish feel to it. love it.

Sounds like a ZZ Top Eliminator era reject to me.

Could have been a great track with a more "traditional" sound.

Great track, and the live version is even better.

Haven't played it much since it came out. So the Stones go for a modern U2-ish sound crossed with When The Levee Breaks. Big deal. Not one I return to much.

you played it loud while drinking vodka...and it rocks? or you played it loud with vodka ON the rocks?

I actually put small rocks in my vodka to give it a more mineral flavor.

I think I like GUNFACE better. A happy medium between new and old sound.

Me, I like it too. Can't really say what it is that strikes a good vibe, but mostly it's Mick
playing one of his dark roles with much bravoure, I think. Here's the live version from MSG:

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

I loudly played it, played it loud, while rockingly drinking vodka rocks simultaneously.

From personal vodka experience, I've found if you start with straight up, you won't be straight up long, even if you are a straight up person.
