Not really, but for publicity's sake the Stones "auditioned" a few musicians, (to keep up appearances). One was Wayne Perkins, but Keith said, "the Rolling Stones were an English Band and Wayne was American, and he played TOO MUCH like Taylor." (KR)

Hey Man...You mean Wayne Perkins. Carl Perkins was a 50's artist who recorded for Sam Phillip's Sun Label. Blue Suede Shoes- Dixie Fried - Honey Dont etc.

Speaking of 50s rock 'n roll: Have you heard of Robert Gordon??? I know it's from the seventies, but it's pure 50s r 'n r. Very cool. And he has that dude Link Wray on guitar. It's awesome music. "Lonesome Train On A Lonesome Track" is great.
