Show number 5: Newark NJ Prudential Center Dec. 15 updates

This thread is for updates and comments regarding the SATURDAY DEC 15 Newark NJ show, the final Stones show of this year and mini-tour called "50 And Counting". Please post your pre- and post-show thoughs and reports here.

Please do NOT use this thread for ticket trades, ticket price complaints or other discussions. Just Newark Prudential Center Dec. 15 comments and planning. There are separate threads on the following subjects:

Ticket drop: [www.iorr.org]
Ticket prices: [www.iorr.org]

This is how you get to the Prudential Center in Newark:

From Manhattan go via Penn Station at MSG. Take the Amtrak train or NJ Transit transportation to Penn Station Newark, $5 tickets by the machines. That ride takes 20 minutes, two stations. Follow the escalators upstairs, then walk through the overhead walkway/tunnel the 3-4 blocks to nearby the Prudential Center. Take left as you arrive outside, you will see the Prudential Center easily. Or from Newark Airport there is a bus that cost $1.50 and takes you directly to Newark Downtown right by the PRU Center. The Downtown area is ok safe, like most other US cities, no worries, I have walked it all over.

MEETING PLACE FOR NEWARK - IORR STONES FANS:

Not many bars and pubs in this area, but right across the street in front of the PRU Center there is a building with several sports bars. Look for the first one. You do not need a map to find it, it is on Edison right across the street from the Devils supporter store. The food is great, above standard, and they have lots of great tap beers. They also have Chimay, the best there is!

EDISON ALE HOUSE
51 Edison Place

In case you need a map still (NJ Devils is the PRU):

'allo everyone. I'm trying to make my plans for tomorrow.

To the people who went to the show last night, any advice? Parking for instance, did anyone find a good safe place?

What about that bar, was it the Edison? Did people go, if so how was it.

Finally, who's going tomorrow? I AM, AND I'M PSYCHED!!!!

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

The Edison Ale House is fine. I was there at 4:30pm Thursday and there were lots of space for dining. When I left an hour later it was pretty filled up. But for drinks I think it will never get full, it is pretty large with good space. After the show they were still serving drinks, and it was nice to meet fans and frends then too. I will be there on Saturday as well. See you!

Does anyone know actual show time? The venue keeps saying 8, but the pay per view says 9. There wouldn't be a delay would there?

The show will start when the broadcast start. The ticket says 8pm in order to get people into their seats before the real start.

There is plenty of parking. You can prepurchase parking passes here. Doing so will get you in the closest lots. The entrance to the tongue pit is around back on Lafayette St. Don't try elsewhere.

We can't get there until about 8:30pm. Good to see everyone seems to be in consensus that the show will start tomorrow at 9pm when pay per view starts. I'd hate to get there at 8:30 and have the show already going.

How was it getting into the show on Thursday? Were the lines long? Were they searching everyone tough? Or was it a breeze to walk in with no pat down? Just curious how much extra time we should expect to spend trying to get in.

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN?!

Gaga's totally onboard with the publicity campaign, but I don't think Bruce has
even done one tweet yet.

I hope its not that Gaga is doing it out of love and respect for the Stones,
but Bruce is just doing it for the publicity and fat paycheck

(Gaga's fans are all excited that she's gone back to her Fame Monster look
for this PPV. For them, its like the Stones bringing back Mick Taylor)

My guess is that Bruce Springsteen is laying low out of respect for the families and victims of the tragedy in Connecticut.

Yeah, it must be tough being Bruce, caring so much...

Too bad he doesn't care a bit more about finally re-paying some of the huge
debt he owes the Stones. Gaga owes much less to them, and look what she's doing.

What in the world? What does that even mean? owes?

Sometimes it seems like multiple people use your account here, because your opinions change so drastically..... like just the other day you were hating hard on eggegg, saying how you back whatshername who hates eggegg for being fake and would not even watch her... and now you (or someone using your account) loves eggegg?

On the contrary, I've been a model of consistency

I've stated repeatedly that I do not like Gaga or her music or her net cultural impact

On the other hand, I've stated I very much admire her talent, media savvy, and
work ethic

Further, I have indicated continuously swelling enthusiasm for this Pay Per View
event, and am therefore grateful to Gaga for hyping it in a most ingenious way
to her huge fan base. Therefore irritated at Springsteen for sitting on his hands

(owe, you know, like the Stones owe Muddy)

Gaga is doing the publicity, trying to get as much attention to herself as possible (as with every tiniest little thing she does). Bruce is going to jam with a couple of great fellow musicians, just like he does every night - he is just going to play some great music. Nothing more, nothing less. I am glad he doesn't behave like a 5 year old about the thing.

I dont understand how/why springs or eggegg would owe The Stones anything?

I do understand eggegg loves the attention will happily pimp the the PPV and is great for crossmarketing the PPV, I just dont think she is the best person to do this gig, which will be recorded for perpetuity (wrong word?)

Anyway....
Everyone agreed Florence was perfect when she did it, she proved herself, she is an up and coming artist who could go huge over time.... Florence should have been invited to do the PPV.... eggegg on the other hand was a falsh in the pan and is now on the way out, she will probably be off the radar in 1-2 years.... gone the way of the spice girls and the dodo bird.... While Florence will be getting more and more popular.

Sorry Florence.... you should have gotten this spot, you are awesome!

1) dumb. florence would have brought 3 people to the ppv. gaga will probably
bring a million.

2) dumb. not understanding how the stones owe a debt to Chuck and Muddy, which
they have always acknowledged.

3) dumb. not understanding that gaga owes a debt to jagger. she obviously
understands it, and is obviously only too happy to have this chance to
acknowledge it.

4) dumb. not understanding that the future of the stones rests on the success
of this ppv. not understanding how much gaga is contributing to its success.
not understanding how much more bruce should be doing.

5) when i saw springsteen in 1975 at the Guthrie theater in Mpls, I said to
myself, "what an egomaniac!" and he's never changed my mind about that.
But his primadonna act at the moment is, is... Let's just say he better smarten
up fast or Mick will rip him a new one in front of the whole world.

Supervevvy, okay, I think we all get it. You are a Rihana fan and Gaga fan (yes, I know, you claim not to be, whatever), but this therad is about today's gig of The Rolling Stones. 99% of people here don't care one bit about Gaga, Rihana, Britney or whoever because of reasons that don't need to be explained, I hope. Please, don't start an argument that The Stones chose Gaga for the gig today, I don't think that would be a reason to turn this into Gaga/Rihana forum

Watch it, I am being polite with you...
but if you wanna get nasty, we can do that too.

You did not explain why she owes the Stones... and I did not say anything about who the Stones owe... dont put words in my mouth or this will get ugly fast.

I care more about the performance than selling PPV tickets.

Dont be a smart ass, I said I understood eggegg would sell
PPV tickets, but I also said Florence would be better for
the part... and she earned it.

The future of The Stone DOES NOT rest on this PPV sales.

I wondered if they would postpone as a mark of respect, I doubt if anyone feels like a party at the moment.
But I guess they'll go ahead - I really hope they don't do 'Sympathy for the devil', thats all.

I personaly think the show will take place. It is not something that would be in any way disgraceful or disrespectful towards the victims or those mourning.

It is true, that it is entertainment and right now it is not a time for entertainent in the US. On the other hand, The Stones will pretty much just go to work and do their job, just like millions and millions of other people around the Globe. Not going to work is not something that would either help the victims or prevent such horrible things to happen in the future. Sadly. Quite on the contrary - there should be taken serious action to prevent those things, but that won't unfortunately happen and it has nothing to do with The Stones and I am getting into politics now, which I don't want to.

The point is, that of course, this is not a party time, but it is not The Stones throwing a party. It is The Stones playing a concert, which for them is like going to an office for someone else. I know, it is very sensitive thing and I absolutely don't want to touch anyone's feelings, being very shaken myself. Just trying to say, that doing this show doesn't have to be necessarily viewd as a bad disrespectful thing.

Anyway, I believe the show will take place and SFTD will most likely be omitted ,just like in Poland in 2007.
