Hide Your Love

I love Hide Your Love and would like the Stones to perform it live.
Jaggers pounding piano playing and Taylor's guitar solo are most effective as are Jagger's vocals - it's definitely preferable to another performance of Tumbling Dice.
Chuck could also take a rest as Mick could take over with piano duties.

Yeah, great blues. Never performed on stage as far as I know.
Thought Keith did'nt play on this song. Is that right?

'In the sweet old country...'

They played it during the 1973 tour rehearsals, but never played live.

Love this song and I think it would be great if the Stones did a blue set with their own blues songs like...

Parachute Woman
Down In a Hole
Hide Your Love
Black Limousine
Who's Driving Your Plane
The Storm

I've got a copy of that Stones 73 rehearsal with them working on: Hide Your
Love - Taylor's great, like usual in those days - and ah "Hot Stuff"
your not very hot if you think this song is weak..... MLC

hot stuff, would love to hear those songs you mentioned in the set for the next tour. Maybe with the exception of Anybody Seen My Baby, that didn't work too well live.

You Got The Silver was played during the No Security tour but wouldn't mind if they played it again and gave Happy a rest. I Got The Blues was also played during the same tour as well as back in 1970.

hi mcddtlc
i like all stones songs...but you have to admit it was one of their weakest tracks..the book by, martin elliott said " hide your love in one of the weakest tracks recorded at the sessions. etc.. goes on to say mick taylor who again attempts to revive a flagging song wiyh a blistering lead solo. the track has a poor ending..it needed keith to bring it to life and sadly keef doesnot show up for its making.... so to put it on live...?

H. Stuff - I guess this is just were we difer, this is my MOST favorite
song on the album, Taylor's melodic solo is just so outstanding, back in the
day, we were looking for any song that Jagger/Richards would let Taylor take-off
on, this one, Winter, 100 year ago were what caught all my friends attention.
We were so impressed with Sticky Fingers, then to see hardly any solo's on
"Exile" 1st radio release from album was: Tumblin Dice, letdown to us from: Sway, CYHMK, Moonlight Mile...

So we were "blown away" by Taylor's playing on: Hide Your Love
then we were "blown away" by his playing on; Time Waits For No One on their
next release, then really "blown away" when Taylor - went away.... MLC

Doesn't Keith play bass on HYL?

Re: Hide Your Love

John R - Don't know about that one, I've heard Keith wasn't in the studio
when this was recorded, that's Jagger on 2nd guitar. Another reason why Taylor
was pissed at the song writing credit situation back in those days, Taylor &
Jagger in the studio and the album credit is: Jagger/Richards... MLC

Hide Your Love is another example of Taylor/Jagger collaboration and the licks
Taylor plays are heaven and Jagger sings with authority and confidence.

A cool jam - more or less.

Hide YOur Love seems to be culled from I Ain't Lyin' fron the Exile sessions

Keith of course is completely straight

Yes, definitely a cool jam, has an interesting relaxed atmosphere; the interplay of two Micks is brilliant.. is that Jagger in that cool, dramatic piano? (also that ghost Jagger vocal is great).

To me the song sounds like a take somehere between "Just Wanna See His Face" and "Melody".

Yes, it's Mick on piano. I think I read somewhere that Mick invented the lyrics as they played the track.

hi
bill wyman plays bass on hide your love.. keith sadly is in another land on this song... i listened to it in the car and i liked it better.. its ok.. i remember when it 1st came out...i didn't like it at all.. kinda fell alseep on it... but now a lot older...sounded nice in my car.. that whole album does much better on a top $ sound system..the system i had when it 1st was released is not as good as the one i have now.. so if you have the bucks put it in a new sound system. then it will all sound better...but i have gotting into the entire album much more lately..the 2 micks worked well together on this album!

hi again
hide y.l was recorded in nov-dec 1972 in jamaica.... its a mick jagger song..
i just would have loved it if they put on travellin man or separately which were recorded at the same time..both are truely great tunes...but then again all stones songs are the best!

H. Stuff - How does Winter sound on your "nice" sound system?? bet the
added layer of sound (orchestra - strings, etc) behind Taylor's leads sounds
great!! MLC

I always thought it was Keith on Bass - similar run and style to Casino Boogie. But it might be Taylor.

Certainly not Wyman. (It's too "clever"!)

Beats the cojones off anything after Tattoo You, though. Me angelic mum came home from the shops when GHS was released, telling me she'd heard a new Stones song. She said it sounded like, "Offer It Up." Right up there w/another board member's mum thinking "Angie" was "Ain't Jeff."

hi
1st save your money and get a new sound system.. you will never want to hear your wife and kids again...ha winter sounds like your in heaven.. i always loved that track but now its something from heaven... on hide your love it was said that charlie on drums, bill wyman on bass, mick jagger on piano, mick taylor on elt. guitar, saxophone, bobby keys and on congas, rebop, who plays for eric clapton.
you should take another listen to tattoo you.. a very well recorded and mixed album, very clean.. god if ghs was recorded as well as tattoo, then ghs would be the stones very best album...

tattoo you i think is a better album... but then agan i love all stones albums and next week i'll like ghs better.....ha!
