Playing with your air-guitar imitating Keith

Have you ever been caught by a relative.... .... playing with your air-guitar imitating Keith?

I have. The music was turned up so that I didn't hear someone enter my room.
But I have nothing to be ashamed of. I play the air guitar like a madman!

yeah, several times... once my brother made a short clip with his video cam.
Eversince he tells me that he will release it on the interent if I don't buy him drinks when I meet him in a bar...
If you think you play like a madman, you should see this video, I'm like a crazy apeman on Ecstasy...

I play air guitar like Keith when I listen to the Stones. I dance like Bruce when I listen to Springsteen. I "windmill" to the Who. I have a Todd Rundgren worshiping friend who dances like "the Runt" did back when Todd had a physical aspect to his shows. Now he just plays really horrid versions of his old songs. He must figure if it worked for Dylan it'll work for him. But it doesn't.

I play airguitar too. But most times I put on my guitar and pretend it's me playing. And I sometimes prance like Jagger if I don't wanna put on the guitar. Cool thing is: I have a large mirror, so I can see myself and think "Wow, I'm cool". I have been caught several times also.

My airbanding predates Risky Business to about 1960 so I have some experience. I do find Keith more intersting to airband to. Placing a hot Stones tune on the player I will drop into a deep knee bend for the kids. It looks and feels alot better than trying the idot moves the bands they watch pull off, the head banging, jumping up and down...just too hard to airband at 50. Stick to players closer my age and physical abilities.

I stopped caring what others think when
I play air guitar or do an Elvis long ago.
Why should anyone get uptight? Is there
problem not mine.

When Jay McInerney (current WSJ wine columnist) observed—for Esquire Magazine—Mick recording SHE'S THE BOSS he was relieved to see Mick playing air guitar, as McInerney often did it himself.

Seems like men only have the air guitar gene...that true? I've never once felt inspired to pick up an a-guitar
and wail away.

The only Keith-related thing I've ever done is reference him first-name only, forgetting I'm not among Stones
freaks at the time. That's a little embarrassing, like "...um, I mean, Richards. Keith Richards."

Before this thread title was changed I was going to post "....doing what?"

Air guitar imitating Keith? No. Wouldn't that involve just standing there pulling faces while raising your arms in the air, or flinging imaginary plectrums out to an imaginary audience, or half-raising your leg bent at the knee as though you were about to kick a trash can across the room? Again, no.

However, to this day--and I'm 47--I'm fond of doing Townshend windmills around the house. For instance, when I've got something heating up in the microwave and there's still a minute or two left to go on the timer, I'll step back from the counter--not too far, in case I whack my hand on the counter behind me or, worse, the stove--and hold my left hand out at an 80- to 90-degree angle, stretch my right arm full out the other way, and then WWWHHHHHhhhhhhwwwwwaaaaaaaHHHHHHH!--windmill out a great suspended A power chord.... until the water in my tea cup is ready for steeping or the frozen whatever is thawed out.

But only when no one else is looking, of course. A middle-aged air guitarist? It's the most embarrassing thing in the world!
