Hey I called that yesterday! Not surprised, the guy clearly impressed Mick at the White House gig.

Yeah you did.

Just found out his "Blak and Blu" album was out. Sounds fantastic in the iTunes clips.

Sounds like an all-in-one Doyle Bramhall/Black Joe Lewis/Lenny Kravitz/Keziah Jones combo, what's not to like!

1/2 the audience won't know who Mary J Blige is...NOBODY will know who the heck Gary Clark Jr is. This post is the first time I've heard him mentioned outside of "Rypien to Clark..touchdown Washington Redskins"

Having sold more than 50 millions albums worldwide I bet that more than half of the audience will know who she is.

Well in that case high time people found out who he is.
I didn't know of the cat either until that White House gig. He was fantastic.
Cool choice of guest to appear with the ever-educational Rolling Stones.

All well and good, I have nothing against him.

but if it's not someone of a status of Clapton or Beck...McCartney etc....then I really don't care. I don't go to a stones show to discover some hipster fan favorite...I come to see the Stones.

I remember a band called "The Script" who opened for McCartney at Citi Field a few years ago. They later achieved some fame with an annoying pop song...but they were booed off stage. Their set was the biggest piss break in modern history.

never heard of Clark but i think I'll take him over Clapton or beck in that slot.

Every single person in the audience will know who mary J. Blige is, are you kidding?

there's no reason to think Wyman will be at the US shows, the big question is Taylor.

Mary J Blige is a very overrated artist. I can't stand her singing technique, or rather lack of singing technique. Gary Clark JR is a blues artist so I can understand that choice.

I think the non-AARP members of the audience will be relatively familiar.

Remember the guy also played at the "Howlin' For Hubert" tribute show last February with Keith so his inclusion for the NYC gigs seems normal.

anyting is better than the guests at the beacon, i guess...Jack White and Christina Aquilera??? Why not stick with there own contemporaries??

Its all to sell the PPV, just like those Beacon guests were to help sell Shine a Light.

having said all that, I cant wait 'til next Thursday.

Dude, it's New Jersey & Brooklyn---they'll know who Mary J. Blige isdrinking smiley

If people don't know who Gary Clark Jr. is yet, they sure will after they hear him play.

Jack White had an off night at the Beacon vocally, but Christina Aguilera was fantastic. Stick with their contemporaries? Most of them are dead or haven't played in years. What? Eric Burdon on a stool? Peter Noone?

I'd rather have Eric Burdon on a stool

The Stones need a seasoned pro with some substance to pull off Gimme Shelter not little girls like Fergie or Florence. Mary J was just wailing. Chaka Khan would be perfect for that song. She is one the best soul singers around today. But of course Mick don't want to share the stage with a woman close to his age.

Note: If Wikipedia can be believed, Merry Clayton was 20 years old when she recorded her vocal for the original.
