The Rolling Stones 50/50 Project
Posted by: 3DTeafoe ()
Date: November 28, 2012 21:33

Hi. To celebrate the band's 50th anniversary I am creating a new project called

"The Rolling Stones 50/50 - The Fifty Best Live Tracks From 1963-2013"

Over the next several months I will be putting together a cd collection of 50 tracks, taken from whatever sources are available, of the Stones playing live.
Your suggestions as to which particular recordings to include in the anthology would be greatly appreciated.
Once the project is completed, a limited number of the cd set will be offered, for free, to anyone who wants one.
Thanks!

i like the idea of that project, but i think that only perfect sounding records should be used for such a project. I think Love in Vain from Ya Ya`s should be on it!

For instance you might consider:

When the Whip Comes Down. Detroit 6th July 1978
Just my imagination. Passaic, N Jersey 78

I don't know. It kind of implies there's a 50% chance for a trainwreck.

"Bitch" from "Ladies and Gentlemen"
"Beast of Burden" from "Some Girls - Live in Texas"

EDIT: Plus "You Can't Always Get what You Want", "Out of Control", "Before They Make Me Run" from last Sunday's concert at the O2 (November 25, 2012), if there is a recording that is good enough for a CD.

"Moving On", my preference is for the old version on the "Got Live" Ep. This shows Brian's slide guitar work really well, subtle but essential to the song

"Brown Sugar" has got to be from Brussels 1973

"Route 66" from the Got LIVE EP
"Out Of Control" from MSG Jan. '98 (released on a promo CD)
"Rocks Off" from Philly '72
"Get Off My Cloud/Yesterday's Papers" or "Satisfaction/Goin' Home" from Paris '67
"Dead Flowers" from either Marquee '71 or Ft. Worth '72

And, of course, the ultimate:

"Rambler" from Brussels '73
