I have been listening to Four Flicks over the x-mas break and was watching Ronnie very closely. He appeared to be struggling a great deal with being sober. I didn't think he looked real well or was very happy during the Paris Club Show. He didn't play all that well either in my opinion from what I heard as well. His solos seemed to lack any real bite and he was very low in the overall mix. It is really obvious that charlie and Keith are carrying the load from what I could gather.
Charlie is just so strong as a drummer and it is so fun to watch him play in the traditional style using that patented Watts backbeat. He still looks like he is having great time on stage and I loved the scene in the documentary where he falls in behind Mick on "Worried About You" and doesn't try to blow Mick away or take away the moment like Chuck does.
I hope that Ronnie can recapture some of his consistency on the next tour and get stronger like Keith seems to do.
Any comparisons regarding Ronnie from North America to Europe. I heard that he was very weak in Europe and might have been drinking again. I can't stand it when he has a smoke between his fingers while he plays. I hope they respect Charlie's health and not blow smoke in his face next tour.
Ronnie has been a Rolling Stone for nearly 30 years, and to denigrate him is to denigrate the band. mitchtaylormick, you really smell like a troll. Get over it.
