I liked George Thorogood as an opener in De Kuip in Rotterdam in 1982.

But I also liked the pure energy and anthousiasm of Vue which opened in Vredenburg Utrecht last year.

Biggest dissapointment was Robert Cray. Totally uninspiring.

Hutu and the blowhorns (or whatever they were called) was also a waste of efford.

" AC/DC Toronto 2003... They were so good that it was very difficult for the Stones (tired) to play after them..."

Gosh yes what was I thinking?

The Isley Bros., AC/DC, The Guess Who, even Rush. I'm loathe to admit it hre but the Stones were anticlimactic that day.

Thought Prince was going to be the best
but he was off the stage before we got
out of the car and into the Colusium!
...Something about a trench coat and G string!

So I'll go with J Geils!

There's just one opening act worth mentioning: AC/DC!!!
All the others I've seen, such as Gun, Big Country, Cranberries, Pretenders etc. didn't even give me a reason to pay attention. I was waiting for THE band.

G.Jeil's in 81 at the Seattle KingDome without a doubt! They were hot and the Stones took an awfully long time to come out after these guy's tore up the place!
A friend that was there with me and not nearly the Stones fan I was/am said, Geil's out did the headliner's hands down as far as he was concerned, and in retrospect I believe he was right? Played most of their live album Full House, and in my opinion anyway, and to be perfectly honest about it beside's? I doubt the Stones ever were as good a band as was The J.Geil's Band, at that point of their career? And it's just a shame they never did seem to be appreciated as much as what they should have been? Great live rockin blues, as good as it get's! So if you haven't had the opportunity to listen to this band and especially their Full House recording, give them a shot, won't you?

saw geils every show they played at Boston Garden from 1976 to 1980. Geils would always rock their home town crowd. Great performers.

MononoM,

Paris 98 was not opened by Telephone, which split about 15 years ago, but by Jean-Louis Aubert, the band's former singer.
I agree, it was a great opener for the french audience, and I'm glad you also loved it.

Someone said his worst opener was in Berlin in 98.
I think it was Big Country. Theu usually ain't bad, but it's sure that they left me with a better souvenir when they opened in 95.
