Flip The Switch Live in Utrecht, December 19th, 2004

Once again I was lucky to see the best cover band in the world. What a show! Congratulations boys, you did it again. If you open for the real Stones, I'm almost sure they will refuse to go on stage. You're really the best alternative if the Sones are not touring.
Yes Mathijs, there was at least one IORR-member.

Let it rock!

But we missed one IORR-member: Potted Shrimp! He promised to come and bring me ranja (lemonade), but he didn't show up. Where were you Shrimp!?

How do you know I was not there? I didn't buy you a lemonade, but that offer still stands. Let's take it slow, before you know it, we might begin to like eachother.....

Well, I assume that if you were there you would have introduced yourself. It's quite stupid to not do so IMO. We even asked for you during the set!

So were you there or not, Potted Shrimp?

Anyway, thanks for the compliments Izzy & Rosto.

Do you catch gigs in other countries as well?

I heard some samples on your web-site, and it sounds good. I'm a bit surprised that Mathijs sounds more like Ronnie than Mick Taylor in his solos though. 100 years ago was great, Hey Negrita a bit lame. Keep on swinging!

Well, on tracks like Hot Stuff and Hey Negrita I sure hope I sound like Wood! Hopefully on JJF and SFM I sound a bit like Taylor...

Mathijs, is it true Flip The Switch will split up?

Thijs/Mathijs, is it true that you're intending to call it quits next year? I couldn't make it to Stairway this sunday but would love to see you there on another occasion.

After missing the show at the Kurhaus (holiday), I finally made it to a Flip The Switch show. With the great reviews in mind I went there with high expectations and I must say: it was even better than I expected.
You guys just got the right feeling and sound that's needed to play Stones songs.
I'm a musician myself and with my band we sometimes play some Stones songs in the rehearsel room for fun, but to get the right feeling is so extremely hard.
As a band, Flip The Switch sounds very tight, but the biggest surprise for me was Matthijs, who is a damn good guitar player.
Just one song didn't really worked for me (Hot Stuff), but the rest of the show (with I Don't Know Why, Sway, Can't You Hear Me Knocking, Time waits For No One and Moonlight Mile as highlights) was just great.
Maybe a good idea to continue after the split as a band with a new name and write songs on your own, cause as a band it works guys!

Yep, Flip the Switch has decided to call it quits...After almost three years the band feels it's time to move on. We feel we have achieved all that is possible within the limits of a tribute band. We decided that we should stop at our peak, and we want to go out with a bang! We will reload our energy and do 15-odd shows the coming 5 months. The last show will be announced soon, and absolutely will be the event of the year!

So, hope to see you in the coming 5 months, and don't miss our Farewel Party!

Mathijs

Errrrh. Mathjis. If it's in the coming 5 months that means 2005. And it can't be the event of the year 'cause the Stones are touring.

But anyway: Don'y stop. You know. Just don't.

Shrimp: In the future we will be billed as Kiss the Witch, Rolling Stones/Kiss coverband.

It's always the same with these guitarists: a beautiful girl enters the dressing room and they will do anything.

"Can I spank you guys with a cucumber?"
"Yes please"
"Care for a post-mortem Alice Cooper-look?"
"Why not"

Why stopping at your peak as Stones cover band?
Stones didn't....

Anyway, you're gonna start a new band?

Gee,

I'm so sorry I missed this event. I subscribed to the FTS newsletter immediately.

I really loved your performance in the Kurhaus in Augus and will certainly see you again.

We feel we have come full circle by now. We notice that both musically and artisically we haven taken the tribute theme as far as possible. We have played the smallest pub and the largest (for tribute bands) festivals. Many dreams are fulfilled, and we feel doing it for a second time is not the way to go. For example, it is a dream for every Dutch musician to play the Stairway to Heaven in Utrecht. We have done it three times now, and it's time to play the Stairway with our own music! Therefore we have decided to end this band in 6 months, and each of us will have projects of our own (e.g. three members will be part of new band that has nothing to do with the Stones).
