Don´t know about the Cabbage Patch yet, the other vikings claim that Stonesvikings is a democracy, don´t know where they ever got that idea from smiling smiley
But i´ll play along until it´s time to decide what we´re going to do the 22nd.
Have´nt heard from the counterfeits more than what their manager told me, that they were looking into a possible gig in london in between the gigs from that "other" band as they call them winking smiley

I once stayed at a place called Queens Hotel.
It was ragged, worst hotel I ever had - almost an adventure already... but it was comparably cheap - 34 pounds per room, I think.

I would not book a hotel in London without checking feedback on Tripadvisor. There are many spoiled people writing bad things about good hotels there, but it gives you a good idea if every report is bad, like this one, which I though about booking, but seems to be the worst deal in the Paddington area: [www.tripadvisor.com]

I got the Cavendish for 85 pounds through Travelzoo. Seems like a good deal as it says it is a 4 star hotel. I just looked at the reviews on Trip Advisor and they seem generally positive.

That is an exceptional rate if it is The Cavendish on Jermyn Street, SW1. If it is another hotel also called 'Cavendish' on Gower Street, WC1 it is about normal. Best to check which one you are in!

Just checked the Transport For London website. Last direct line from North Greenwich tube station to Baker Street leaves at 23:41
Looks a bit tricky to me. My wife and I can't run :-)

Thanks for the heads-up, just checked and it is the one on Jermyn. Good to hear I did well with the rate. Read some horror stories about some London Hotels having mice and bed bugs. Kind of made me nervous booking a hotel that I didn't know.

If you want a GREAT price (45 pounds - $62.00) check out THE WARDONIA HOTEL in Kings Cross - [www.tripadvisor.com] . It's rated #113 out of over a thousand hotels so it just misses being in the top 10% which is NOT BAD at all for such an expensive city. People seem to like it - I would check it out if you wanna save some cash....

we will stay at the Novotel Excel London. This is convenient to London City Airport. We stayed last time at the Ibis, which is basic, but friendly.
I like the Docks area anyway, very modern and stylish with the old channels digged out and the cranes still there. Good supply in various supermarkets.
Advantage: very close to O2
Disadvantage: it takes longer into the City.
However we liked the location and the service was nice last time.

can somebody recommend this hotel, it`s close to the venue ?

Bexleyheath Marriott Hotel (Bexleyheath)

thanks
robert from austria

If you're coming only for the show, that hotel would be OK, but it's really not that close. If you plan on exploring London, Central London would be a better choice. The Docklands is a more convenient location, and very nice and modern with many shops. It's business oriented and not very traditional London, although the DLR will get you to Central London quite easily. I'm sitting in the West Quay Marriott as I type with a lovely view of the waterway. Not a budget accomodation, but quite reasonable compared to many of the hotels around here. Good luck!

For those that don't know.

The DLR is the underground that runs overground (Docklands Light Railway).

I hope that's cleared it up.

(Actually where it travels through the docks is pretty spectacular).

Stones gig is at 8.45 I believe. And there's no support.

I think you'll have plenty of time!

Concerning hotels in London; indeed, Docklands is very boring. Only good thing about it is the quiet mornings
I recommend Hotel St Ermins near Victoria Station; stayed there a bunch of times. An old, somewhat worn, classic British hotel...very central

For me, there is no better pre and post show hotel than the St Giles off Tottenham Court Rd. It's perfect and couldnt be more central.

I remember last time 26th August was an earlier curfew than on weekdays. Due to that reason the concert was scheduled half an hour or something ahead of time.
It ended before 10.30 pm. So this might have changed and the tubes might run longer hours.

Yes docklands is different, boring? Depends on what you need, but it's not for the 'in crowd' who likes to party all night long.

Oh yes, I meant boring if one want to hang out after or before the concert. Probably a nice place to live, though....so no offense to the docklanders

I was just there, and stayed at the Best Western Shaftsbury near Chelsea. It was 113 pounds a night. The room was very small, however, comfortable, clean, and very centrally located near the Paddington Tube.

I have had excellent results at Premier Inns throughout the UK. Rooms are generally very reasonable, clean, quiet and in good locations. They also do a pretty good breakfast as well. Internet connection you have to pay for, but I still view Premier Inn as a good value.

Can only agree to that we stayed in Sheffield and Glasgow including very cheap parking tickets for the car. Staff was nice and friendly. Rooms between IBIS and NOVOTEL

Grison, this time you will have the added bonus of a great ride over to the O2 on the Emirates cable car! The views from up there are fantastic.
