Mick: Blue, God Gave Me Everything
Keith: I Could Have Stood You Up, Take It So Hard
Ron: Seven Days, I Can Feel The Fire
Bill: Come Back Suzanne, (Si, Si) Je Suis Un Rock Star (I don't care what you think, these are both great songs)

The rest I've either heard too little or none.

We Had It All is not a Keith solo tune. Keith sung and recorded it for Emotional Rescue.

Has anyone mentioned Woody's "Mystifies Me" from "I've Got My Own Album To Do?" What a beauty that one is--so simple and soulful. "Whadd'Ya Think" from "Not For Beginners" is a gem, as well...

"Hate It When You Leave" is, of course, sensational, but I also maintain a soft spot for "Locked Away." Keith weaves such great, understated parts into the whole Michel Doucet Cajun fiddle vibe...

Also: "Struggle" and "Runnin' Too Deep" from "Main Offender." This stuff just sounds better and better to me as time passes.

"Out Of Focus" and "Handsome Molly" are two of the greats from "Wandering Spirit" (along with the title track.) I read an interview with Jagger where he alluded to "Handsome Molly" and said that he did solo records because material like that wouldn't work with the Stones.

Well why not, I say? Who says what the Stones can encompass? If Mick felt a little freer (and equally, if he disregarded the prospect of presenting material in places that seat 20,000 and up) perhaps the Stones wouldn't lapse so frequently into formulaic stuff

Rev, Ian MacLagan also does a great "Mystifies Me" on his Troublemaker CD.

No, he didn't.

An added thought:

Don't know why, but "Hide Away," Mick's collaboration with Wyclef on "Goddess" just appeals to me.

Very cool tune...

Also:

Elmo, thanks for the heads-up on Mac's version of "Mystifies Me." Have you heard Son Volt's (ex-Uncle Tuplelo leader Jay Farrar's band) version from 1995's "Trace" album? Pretty strong, though not that dissimilar from Woody's.

And Erik--thanks for the back-up. I'm sure it'll be tougher to round up supporters of "Hide Away"...

Reverend, gotta say that "Hideaway is one of the least fave of Jagger tunes to me. It alwasy reminds me of tequila and Jimmy Buffet.

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

For me,Ronnies Breathe On Me, and anything off Gimme Some Neck

Take It So Hard would be the top one from Keith

Jaggers best to me would be Sweet Thing or Just Another Night,But the whole Dogshit In The Doorway album is good, too.

I Can Feel The Fire is the greatest song of any solo Stone.

Pleased to meet you......

LOL! You´re answering a thread with a post from 2007? smiling smiley

I think I Can Feel The Fire is great, too.

However, if I had to pick a favorite it would be Make No Mistake.

Another great one that gets overshadowed by Evening Gown:

"Hang On To Me Tonight" by Mick

The whole Wandering Spirit album is a masterpiece

Yes. Plus Memo From Turner (soundtrack version), I Can Feel The Fire, Run Rudolph Run/The Harder They Come, Hate It When You Leave and, of course, Blue.

This is my desert island solo collection.

Absolutely agree with "Hang On To Me Tonight" as it is easily my favorite solo song. Simply amazing tune, no doubt about it. Elmo is right, reading thru these 5 pages "Evening Gown" certainly is the choice of many fans and deservedly so but "Hang On To Me Tonight" takes a back seat to no song. I still can't believe it wasn't on Mick's greatest hits cd.

Je Suis Un Rock Star - Bill Wyman

just kidding.

Love "Make No Mistake" by Keith
F.U.C Her by Ronnie
and I'll also go with "Hang On To Me Tonight" unless "Memo From Turner" is a valid option.

Funny to read this whole old thread.......and i really think that "Wired All Night", "Evening Gown", "Hate It When You Leave", "How I Wish", "I Can Feel The Fire", "Priceless" all are good suggestions....BUT the winner is "Take It So Hard". If I were to thought about the contenders; in a dark silent room - I moght have chosen some other favourite. But as living life as it is...."Take It So Hard" is the best one; in my book

Not sure this is a real Solo Tune................Memo From Turner

Memo From Turner!

Re: BEST SOLO TUNE BY A STONE

Technically Memo From Turner is a Stones number, first tried by them, and then later re-recorded as a solo Mick number.

My favourite solo Stones recordings are:

Keith: We Had It All (With Willie Nelson)
Keith: Make No Mistake (Live at The Hollywood Palladium)
Keith: Atomic Bomb from Weird Nightmare: Meditations on Mingus
Mick: Evening Gown
Ronnie: Own Album & Now Look
Charlie: Tonight At Noon from Weird Nightmare: Meditations on Mingus
