Jsut be happy that they made such great songs solo and together.
And forget about all this silly competitions.
I'm sure they never thought about sth. like that...

I concur stongly w/ Elmo re: Wandering Spirit - it's my favourite solo Stone album (Talk is Cheap is a close second).

An earlier comment re "Keith is the true genius behind the Stones" strikes me as inaccurate and silly. Ah yes, if only the group had consisted of just Brian Jones, Mick Taylor and Keith....

The Rolling Stones we have known since early Seventies would not exist without Mick Jagger's will to keep them alive.

And while Charlie and Bill never really wrote songs, their sound,THAT rhythm section, inevitably echoed in the brains of Mick and Keith when working on new material.

Outlaws by Ron Wood. Runners up - Sweet Thing, Wandering Spirit and Think by Mick, Wicked As It Seems and Take It So Hard by Keith.

I agree with you, but for different reasons. Jagger's voice, esscence, and antics ARE the Stones to me. If it weren't for his bad career decisions, I think a lot more people wouldn't be so reluctant to openly bask in his awesomeness.

among, but above a lot of varied and interesting stuff by all of 'em, that's the one i'd go with too.

You bet!

Coolest lyrics (more understandable if you've seen the film, of course), Mick's still at his peak of awesomeness, and the groove Ry puts down is great! It's one of the very, very few solo songs which rank among the best of the Stones.

... and it IS a solo song! winking smiley

ah yes, if only i were rude enough to say what strikes me as inaccurate and silly. :E
all of the Rolling Stones are essential to the Rolling Stones.

but wasn't the subject supposed to be solo tracks that groove us?
i don't do rankings/favourites but: has anyone mentioned You Don't Move Me?
999? Yap Yap? Sure the One You Need? the Winos' Gimmie Shelter, Happy & Connection?
the Barbarians' Before They Make Me Run & JJF? How Do You Do Africa?
Breathe On Me? I Can Feel the Fire? 1234? Ooh La La? Come to Realize?

oops - like i said i don't do rankings/favourites, but those are all riveting -
of course, neither Keith nor Ronnie has put out anything that qualifies as a "weird career move", so ...
thanks & praises - it means a lot.

Nobody else likes "Pussy"? Well blow me down!

"Pussy" is a song by Wyman.

Sweet Thing - Stripped Down Version 4.37
Found on the 12" vinyl and Sweet Thing CD singles

Sexual with a beat worthy of the JB's....

In the beginning, when life was simple
We were at each other night and day
You were so sensual and so inventive
We said we'd stick together come what may

In the beginning, you were so brutal
You turned the heat on in the afternoon
Get so excited, get so addicted
You had me eating from your golden spoon

ROCKMAN

Bill Wyman's "Je Suis Un Rockstar?"

Seriously: Great to see Ronnie's "I got lost when I found you" mentioned. The guy really wrote some nice songs.

I LOVE "PUSSY!"

GREAT, GREAT song!!

This little bluegrass number off Monkey Grip is the best thing on the album, and easily one of the best solo Stones songs.

Had this recording appeared on IORR that same year, it would have been the best song on that album!

If you're a Stones fan and haven't heard it....you MUST! It is one of the great undiscovered classics!

As far as the other guys:

"I've Got A Feeling" by Ron

"Hang On To Me Tonight" by Mick

"Take It So Hard"

"Alabama" by Mick T.

The winner is...."PUSSY!" PUSSY WINS!!

Kent is bang on. Wired All Night takes a few listens to fall in love with, and is one of the alltime great rockers. Oozes energy and urgency.

i vote for "memo from turner" too - that should've been a stones tune.

i'll also vote for "it means a lot" - but it was tough to choose off "talk is cheap" - i love them all.
