what's up with 3rd show ? no news ?

Almost certainly not happening. Not in France anyway.

Are the Stones already arrived in London ?

Unless they flew out tonight, the answer would be "no"! Rockerparis says they played what sounded like a "real gig" of 15 songs so who knows maybe one more "warm-up" show is in the cards before the O2 shows...

Last time i went to the studio, it was written that main studio was booked till 10th November. So I guess this is for the Stones and that they will stay until then.

no..I believe theyre still rehearsing in Paris.

I'm not suggesting there'll be another warm up gig outside France - I genuinely dont know and haven't heard anything, but I understand that there'll be no more before they leave France.

I guess its probable there could be at least one in England before the 02 shows.

I guess Wyman and Taylor will be invited to play just a few songs in one of the brodcasted shows to begin

yes it makes sense
it would be fair for English fans to have a gig in London like at Trabendo with cheap tickets

Well, it is how one takes it... one could think that 'shit, I just paid £400 for a ticket and now those bastards play (a more interesting gig) for a £10...' grinning smiley

Yes Doxa but those who paid 15 Euros had a short 12-songs set.

You paid full price so you'll get the full show with... 14 songs! >grinning smiley<

(just kidding)

Why is that fair? The issue of expensive ticket prices aside, the reason for these club gigs to begin with is for the band to warm up on a small scale, get the cylinders oiled up so to speak before moving on to larger venues. If they wanted to really treat their fans they would give a free concert like they did in Rio de Janeiro on the ABB tour in 2006.

Since you mention Rio I just read on Keith's book that the concert had been offered by the town of Rio...does that mean that they paid for the logistics or was there also a little something for the band ?

From a New York Times article on the concert, yes it does appear that they were not playing entirely for free, and of course they sold the show in DVD form as part of the Biggest Bang DVD package:

"Though the public did not have to pay for admission to the five-hour show,.... the Rolling Stones were not performing free. Two telecommunication companies were the main sponsors of the event, with the Rio de Janeiro municipal government bearing some of the infrastructure costs."

The concert was free to attend.

Local government and sponsors paid to host it.

The Stones would have been paid at least their normal fee, without question. It wasn't a charity gig.

Factor in the closed-circuit broadcast shown a few weeks later and the fact that it was streamed as an (AOL, I think) webcast and then some of it was later used on the tour DVD/blu ray, then I'd guess they probably earned an eight figure sum from the event.

Why should the Stones be expected to do an unpaid gig?

I'd love for them to do several unpaid gigs, free concerts for the audience, and all the proceeds from sponsors going to charities.

Win all the way around. Nice way to go out on top.

Thanks for digging out these details guys, it was indeed never billed as a charity event, but got them a lot of (good) press as a "free for the public" concert, guess it was "win-win" for all involved...

Not a suprise but makes me sad Stones are not a band out of stage any longer. In Paris, Ron and Charlie were at the Hotel Bristol, Keith with his family in a mansion near the Place de l'Etoile, Mick at home (7e arrondissment de Paris).

So in my opinion, affection signs on stage : clever comedy. eye rolling smiley

And I always used to believe The Monkees lived together

They could have stayed at my place as I live 5 min from the rehearsal studio they rented... thumbs up

I think the Stones are properly credited with sorta inventing the club/theatre
show as a way to warm up for and publicize a new album and tour.

But here's a new wrinkle. Seven club shows in seven days in seven different
countries. Accompanied on a jumbo jet by contest-winning fans and journalists
the entire way...

And who is this bold trendsetting artist? Well, here she is hard at work on a
new music vid with Stones fave Kate Moss...

"It's all over now..."

The last day of rehearsals closed with among 50 ppl waiting outside, waiting for another miracle... that didn't happen. This time the gates (of Eden?) didn't open.

The good part is what we heard from the outside was pretty good and strong even for an informal rehearsal. Only BS was imo a bit weak. The closer was SFTD (iirc).

Naysayers plz notice that each band member had his car window rolled down on the way out so we could briefly talk to them and take some pix. They were extremely relaxed and they seemed pretty pleased with what they had done.
On the band "mood-ometer" what I saw/heard would rank a solid 8.5 : it bodes pretty well for London. thumbs up

BV now I know what you look like! winking smiley And I saw Chuck L. at the back of the black meatwagon, he looks like Santa! >grinning smiley<

Merci les gars! smileys with beer

Really sounds like an upcoming tour with more shows next year.

Because of the background noise ? The vids are from the i.Phone app and the guy managed to record the video stream directly but not the audio apparently. The audio in the app is "normal". Not sure if there's an app to rip the sound.

Good news marclaff, it looks like they're spending a lot of time on cleaning it up though, not surprising given how loud and somewhat nondescript it was...

Is that BV in the second pic?

Nope that was Matt and I was just to his right, back to the camera, with my dark green "concert' sweater...

And that was the view :

Happy memories...
