Yeah, happy birthday!
Just this past couple weeks I watched Hail Hail again, and skimmed through his Bio. Also JUST ordered "Brown Eyed Handsome Man" and hope it arrives in time for an upcoming plane trip!
Been thinking about him a lot lately. His influence is so enormous. I play drums with some guys and we do a lot of Stones and some other stuff, but Chuck is making his way into our playlist more and more.
Sometimes I feel we could do a whole set of just Chuck Berry tunes and no one would be bored. A lot of diversity there, not to mention incredibly clever lyrics.
Never saw him perform, unfortunately. I remember he played near me many years ago and the tix seemed really expensive for some reason, and I didn't go. Now of course, it would take ten times the cost of that ticket to see the Stones....
