My sister has decided to go to one of the Newark shows. Two tix at a thousand per. My sister does not like the Stones. She doesn't even like music of any kind. Seriously. She says its a "happening".
Since these four shows were leaked, I've stated on IORR there has been only two scenarios that have made sense to me, and nothing has changed. Either these shows are 1) designed to be postponed, as part of an elaborate marketing scheme for the real tour, the glorious farewell festival tour of 2013, or else 2) they are Jagger's way of destroying what little is left of the Stones, so he can move on to other things that he finds more fun and fulfilling without anyone blaming him in the least.
I mean, c'mon! Never ever in the history of show business has somebody put a pay-per-view at the beginning of a tour. That is the most demand-destroying move imaginable. Put a HQ version of your current show all over the internet and take ALL the novelty out of any possible tour for everybody. Hugely shrink your potential to make money next year.
Absolutely ridiculous.
Unless as I said Jagger just wants to put this puppy to sleep. This year and next, do as many 6 million dollar shows as the market allows (not very many, that's for sure) and then call it a day and have even the most dedicated fans thankful that they don't have to pretend anymore that this is any longer a band.
All 4 of these shows are a fake-out-trial ballon. After these shows they will commence with a "world tour" and have more "final shows" in London AND New York. Ayone who goes to these shows thinking this will be the end are being horn-swaggled. As far as I'm cocerned if there's no Mick Taylor or Bill Wyman then it's just another miss-fire from the Stones camp. MAYBE, and that's a Big maybe, the Stones will curtail their greed enough to bring those two on board at some point but I wouldn't bet on it. They'll probanbly do 20 or 30 more shows and laugh all the way to the bank.
