we know they're going to play

when? no idea. but i was thinking. i actually got my roseland tickets through ticketmaster right before they put in area restrictions.
could they do the same thing for these four shows? have say 200 tickets that can be sold to people with a chicago zip code. same for any other city or country. gotta believe they wanna try to take care of the die-hards that have been waiting five years for some shows.

or not. maybe the only thing that matters is a kick-ass rock n rollshow. my last show in london was just that.

NO, You DON'T know they're going to play. By now, they would have played. Too many variables at this point to guarantee anything.

They may not know exactly what they are going to do, but I am sure they have the best of intentions. I trust them. It seems they are checking it all out themselves, which I admire greatly. Good for them for being honest with themselves, versus forcing anything... and if they decide not to play, then I trust them... and if they decide to play..... well you get the idea.

Well, it doesn't appear that they quit after doing the two numbers for Grrr, or however many rs there are in it. They wouldn't do that unless they were planning to play live, record, or both.

In this thread of initially limited interest (in all due respect), you made me realize, Jeroen, that this post contains probably the best statement in all its difficult simplicity that I may have read (even if I don't read everything, I have to admit, far from it) about their intentions in the context of their socalled 50 years anniversary. Because this is said in respect, reflecting their own concerned weighing of possibilities.

Take notice of the quoted post: Necessary quality is not a given easy fact, but an achievement, if it is gonna be, by their regaining it! Because they are in the end more frail beings than they were, after decades of rock and lifes in rock! They seem to ackowledge it themselves. They apparently did not plan a 50 years anniversary and all that stuff in advance, however, unprepared, seem to have been inspired by its arrival. Made them sort out diffences of opinion to the necessary extent, too.

Sort of like the Beach Boys (though I don't think Mick will be taking out a Rolling Stones cover band without Keith after the first 50 dates).

If it is with reference to my post: Not like the Beach Boys, really. In my understanding a penultimate pop group.

And I did not say "frail", but (only) "more frail ...... than they were".

Either, if they will perform live, as a band with some essentials intact of what entitled the Stones to presume to the epithet the best rock'n'roll band in the world.

Or, alternatively and possibly, now slightly transformed as rock band to the equivalent of a band of old blues men.

Well, I hope the Stones play South Forida. I'm madder than 40 Hells that the E Street overlooked us.

For what it's worth 175k tickets for next years Glastonbury festival went on sale this morning and sold out in one hour forty minutes. Plenty of rumours on the festival messageboards that the Stones will be confirmed shortly.....
