I am reading Mark Blakes book on the Hipgnosis LP cover designer group. Hipgnosis made many famous album covers, for instance for Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. The book tells a story about Marshall Chess contacting Hipgnosis for the cover design of Goats Head Soup. They came up with the idea of presenting the Stones as mythical centaurs and satyrs in a woodland glade. Photos were taken of the Stones dressed up in ballet tights. Just before the deadline, the Stones changed their minds and cancelled the deal. It would be very interesting to see what Hipgnosis came up with!

Although it's not a Hipgnosis design, the cover of Roger Daltrey's 1975 solo album, Ride a Rock Horse, depicts him exactly in this way.

I have one of the original 10x8 photos of Mick in white leotard that I got given by Hipgnosis' Storm Thorgersonm in 1974.

Would have been interesting to see what their finished work would have looked like. Basically I don't like this idea with horses too much. However, I never cared for the final artwork either. The group pictures by David Bailey are very nice though.

I do like the mythology creation but found the Goats Head more provocative and Bailey’s Stones pics great images.
