58 of the Richest Lead Singers in the World! (Jagger #5)

Who would have thought that Dave Grohl is richer than Dylan?

A list of 58 of the Richest Lead Singers in the World!
Posted By: Metal Sludge

The Internet -- Who are the richest lead singers in the world? The vocalists on this list have sung for bands like The Beatles, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses and The Rolling Stones to name a few. But which lead singer is also the lead money maker? There’s no better job on the planet than being the front man/woman for a major rock band. Not only do lead singers get most of the glory, attention, accolades and groupies… they also make a TON of money. As we compiled the list below, we learned that if you want to make a huge fortune as a lead singer, it definitely helps if you also happen to be a prolific song writer. Furthermore, it doesn’t hurt that these top earners have been in some of the most famous bands in music history with 30+ year careers touring stadiums all over the world and selling millions upon millions of records. The fact that many of the richest lead singers are still performing today is a testament to their talent (or maybe they just love making millions of dollars and getting showered with adulation). Oh, and even if you don’t have an amazing voice, there’s still a ton of money to be made in a band as we learned with our list of the richest drummers in the world. But for today we are going to take a look at the richest lead singers, did your favorite artists make that cut?

Dave Matthews ? really boring music
Jimmy Buffet : unknown !

Ozzy next to Stefani ? after 40 years ?? a pity

Mick is poor if you consider 50 years. He has been spoiled.

Bob is not a business man obviously

ok, poor, well on this list... He's probably sold less records than most of the other names here, and doesn't get played as much on the radio, I guess. I'd imagine most of his income comes from people covering his songs, and what's his share, I don't know.
But he's divorced with a big family with Sarah, makes new records quite often, must cost something even if he produces then himself these days. And of course he's almost constantly on a world tour, that's very expensive, especially since he's not a stadium artist with astronomical ticket prices.

What a bollocks. Dylan as much as Brian Wilson? Dylan has been touring forever, Wilson has been in bed for two decades.

I love how a random journalist reckons he knows the net worth of dozens of musicians he's probably never met, let alone had access to their bank accounts.

..but its still not as funny as people taking it seriously and getting competitive and indignant about it!

Everybody knows that this list is pure speculation,
but most of the things we read about on the internet
are guesswork. Or am I wrong?

Who is Jimmy Buffet?

And I find it hard to believe Liam Gallagher (Oasis) has made more bread than Thom Yorke (Radiohead) - maybe he took good advice?

There are really no singers from Asia, Latin America or other continents besides North America and Europe that could make it on this list?

Madonna should be on the list. She is worth $650 million

How can Axe Rose be worth so much? He has sat on his A-- the last 20 years.

This list is bizarre - why are there only two women?? They're only counting singers within a group context apparently but really Dylan was always a solo artist, as is McCartney, Sting, Jimmy Buffett, etc.

Female pop stars have raked in the dough for years now: Madonna, Janet jackson, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, etc. They've all got truckloads of cash.

Oasis was the biggest band in the uk the last 14 years, of course he made a truckload and his new solo album is already double platinum in the uk

Maybe, but his brother Noel wrote almost all of Oasis' songs and would unquestionably be considerably wealthier.

As for all the 'who is...' questions?

Are people really unaware of things like wikipedia and search engines?

I guess the schmuck who added up all the cash other people have doesn't like the Kinks or Ray Davies. Let me do it for him - Ray is worth....uh....$70 million. Yeah, 70 million! That's the ticket!

PS: Geoff Tate is 'worth" 17 million...LOL!!!

Figure given for Bob Dylan is ludicrously incorrect.

Elton wealthier than Jagger? Don't bet on it!
