Vince losing his daughter was horrible - nobody deserves something like that, no matter what they've done. What did it for me was when he got busted for drunk driving in Vegas a couple of years ago. I'm not a Crüe fan, but I must say that I made an internet trade a while ago for a videotape of Mick Jagger being interviewed on European MTV. Mick was asked to provide a list of 10 music videos he liked that they would play, and the blonde woman interviewing him asked him this or that about the videos before each one got played. And on the list was Mötley Crüe's video for GIRLS GIRL GIRLS. And the interviewer was openly astounded it made Mick's list. And he gave a semi-sheepish reply that he just liked it. (I admit I was surprised he chose it, too.) Another one on the list (just to give an idea of the list) was the Aerosmith/Run-DMC video of WALK THIS WAY.

I find it wierd though that any band that big would have the balls to get a new lead singer, it just doesn't make any sense. You can replace any instrument player and joe public, non musicians won't be able to tell the difference but you can't lose the voice. It was the same with Sabbath and Ozzy.
I supose these songs were more about the guitar riffs than the melodys, that's why they thought they'd be ok.

how about tommy. mick and nikki never really wanted vince neil back. they thought corabi had a better voice and he can actually play rhythm guitar, the label basically forced the crue to get neil back and drop corabi

heres a thought.Much of the Stones mid 60s music isn't that great. But it remains in the memories of people who can't get away from that period. So - lo and behold- it becomes classic!

I will always defend the music I grew up loving, and that includes Motley Crüe.

Have to disagree with you on that. In their nascent period as songwriters, Mick and Keith may have penned a jejune throwaway tune here and there, but those first 4 albums--England's Hitmakers, 12x5, Rolling Stones, Now! and the UK version of Out Of Our Heads are top notch and with solid musicianship that displays a well-studied mastery of the blues-based approach to music. I will listen to these albums front to back on a daily basis, and they are inspiring each time I listen. And for my part, there is no nostalgia involved, because I was only born in the mid-60s.

People are very opionated about their music. Seems thier concert tickets and cd sales aren't hurting.
Everyone was havin fun and pleased at the show I was at. Alot of happy drunk people with no fights or Hells Angels.

Cant stand that fat front guy.
I sort of like the other 3 guys (not the singer dude) they seem okay guys, except the music bites bigtime. The guitarist Mars has some bone ailment and cant really move. You see how they write around him in videos? But I actually like him the most as musician in that group. He isn't a hair-shredder; surprisingly solid.

That is not to say a Crue show can not be dangerous....
One time I almost lost an eye at a Mötley Crüe concert...

That fateful day we had purchased at the box office some just released " day of the show tickets" which had us sitting standing in the front row of the balconey, five feet away from the ramp thing that came directly over to us on stage right.... It was a great side view of the stage and all of the guys spent some time over there with us... you know... Mick doing his solos, Vince asking us "if we were having fun" etc etc... anyway... at one point two extra tall, gorgeous, TALL AND BUXOM hotties came in to our row and decided they should start sharing our area... which was fine with us....it was a rocking, dancing, good time.... anyway.... so at one point Tommy Lee started doing his thing where he shines his spot light around on willing wanton women to flash em/us/them..... so Tommy comes over to our edge and he is spot lighting the hotty right next to me... and before I realized the gravity of the situation and as I turned my head to see... Long Tall Sally had unleashed herself and was gyrating herself all around... and as I turned my head, one of her very perky nipples dang near hit me right in the eye ball, but instead she poked me right in the nose and around my chin. And the moral is... be very careful, you could lose an eye, and then it wouldnt be so funny.

I was standing in a bookstore skimming through Nikki's book and read where he used to leave messages for Keith to get together and write songs. It's badge of courage for him how many times he has been pronounced dead from dope. So then Keith becomes their hero. They get it so wrong.

I've tried to listen to Motley Crüe many times. They are lame, they're not a rocking band, imo.

From the same era, this is, imo, the real deal - what they should have been (and perhaps tried to be). Too bad they killed the drummer.

I seen them on Sept. 2nd here in PA and thought KISS should have opened for them!

Seriously the best show I ever saw.
True to their fans they put on a excitingly fun, long & loud show.
Could'nt criticize them at all.

Funny, it was the same for me. Saw them in Basel/Switzerland this year, they played right after Slash - and they absolutely killed it. Even though I'm not too much into them, they played an amazing, dirty rock'n'roll-live-show that had everyone have a really great time. First time I saw them live, and now I hold them in high esteem.
