Lucky Dip Tickets 2022
Posted by: RG ()

I am very curious if there will be a Lucky Dip sale for the upcoming European Tour? Is there any news about it? And if so, I guess they will go on sale during the general sale next Friday?

Better yet, why don't you both buy a pair to see who draws the better tix.

At this point its 50 50. Try and work thru your differences and hopefully you have a future together.

but would it actually be possible to re-sell the leftover ones outside the location then? Cause I thought someone on the tour thread mentioned that you will be led inside as soon as you got your tickets to avoid them being re-sold?

LD tickets are always sold as a pair of two.
I never heard of nor does it make sense that two LD seats one gets are not next to each other.

It is different for each venue in my experience. Vegas was the only one this past year that I went to that made you go right in. No problems in Pittsburgh or Tampa doing it.

When are lucky dips for sale and from wich website? live nation?

Re: Lucky Dip 2022

They will go on sale when the general onsale starts (likely Friday morning). The ticket agency handling the sales will be whatever agency is in charge of ticketing to a particular show. In Germany, for instance, it will be Eventim. However the Lucky Dip links will be available through the Rolling Stones website.

Do you need to register somewhere on the Stones website beforehand for the Lucky Dips or will it all happen during the buying process?

Okay, thanks for the info. So it seems to be pretty much a gamble then either way...

You don't have to register for Lucky Dips, you just click the link on the Rollingstones.com tickets/tour page. There will be a "Lucky Dip" link next to each show that offers them. Hyde Park likely will not.

Alright, thanks! Yeah for Hyde Park we just wanna get normal GA tickets, but wanna try Lucky Dips for Munich (since last times large parts of the audience were boring snobs who left before the encore and complained when you would stand up since they "paid for seating tickets", like wtf is wrong with these people, it's a Stones concert...so we decided at least with Lucky Dips we won't pay too much in case some idiot will get annoyed with us again...)

Lucky Dip is replacing the system of "first 20 rows cheap tickets". In the old days, i.e. 10-20 years ago, the first 5, 10 or 20 rows in the stadium were priced lowest, typically $100 or lower. This was due to contract, as the band wanted those seats to be available to everyone, regardless of economy. These days Lucky Dip makes a pair of tickets available at a price of $50 or so each, i.e. less than 50 Euro. I think that is a great way to distribute cheap tickets to real fans. It is hard for the scalpers to buy and resell these tickets, so I think it is a great way to get cheap tickets to real fans.

In the "old days", i.e. 10-20 years ago, if they had few fans in the pit or in the front, they opened up, or passed out wristbands. It happened many times. I remember one time in Zaragoza Spain, where we were less than 50 people in the front. Then they handed out many many wristbands to other fans in the crowd. Same happened in Gelsenkirchen, and many other places. Often I could see the crew handing out wristbands on the pitch, kind of discrete, in order to avoid chaos. That is from the past. Now we have Lucky Dip for that too.

there's no way to resell them. But if you have a spare LD ticket you'll easily find someone here on IORR to come/team up with you. At least that's they way I got rid of my LD spare tickets in the past…

Yeah that seems like a good solution if you are buying Lucky Dips alone. I was just wondering about what Topi suggested because e.g. if my friend and I both bought Lucky Dips for the same show we would have 2 extras that we would have to get rid of, that's why I asked about re-selling them outside of the venue^^ but I suppose probably one could also maybe just find two people here on IORR who are in need of a spare ticket to meet up with grinning smiley

Sometimes people want to actually buy spare LD's. They post "looking for spare LD" ads here.

According to the rules it is for bidden to re-sell LDs, but ... if somebody wants to give you money for the spare pair, that's between you and them, right?

Most of the time the box office will not care what you do with the tickets and most of the time you are indeed free to go wherever you want after picking them up, they won't escort you inside.

Hmm yeah that makes loads of sense hahah, especially if it's in Munich and we were there like 3h early to pick up the tickets, they cannot force us to go inside the stadium, I mean maybe we wanted to take a walk through Olympia Park before lol grinning smiley

Some times I get early to the PIT (That is where I like to be). Then it is great, especially in Europe, to see all those fans who enter the PIT with a great great smile, having Lucky Dip tickets. It is a lottery, but there is fair chance of getting PIT tickets. Still, to be honest, The Rolling Stones are great in any place of the stadium, once you are inside.

Yes, you are absolutely right!! I'd honestly take nosebleeds if nothing else was available anymore, or if the entire show was sold out already, I'd try to get some second hand somewhere cause...truly all that matters is getting inside the stadium and just being there and seeing them live, cause being there still is SO much better than not being there

the way LD tickets are handled differs from venue to venue. In Munich it was as described above (in Stuttgart, London and Dublin it was very similar). But in Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Berlin in 2018 as well as in 2014) you had to enter the venue right after you got your LD tickets

Thanks for sharing your experience! So as I see it, either you just buy as many Lucky Dips as you actually need, or in case you have spare tickets, find people who might want them and meet up with them before going to pick the tickets up

I usually buy one pair of LD for each show I want to see. Then I ask friends if the like to go to the show. If they don't want to I post an offer on IORR and usually pick the first person who contacts me and meet with them at the venue. Right there I use my 'golden hand' and pick up the LD tickets, usually I score pit (Hamburg, Munich, Dublin, Berlin) or golden circle (2x London and Stuttgart, but somehow made it to the pit at all three shows). I failed only twice when I scored normal GA (Düsseldorf, Prague but at Prague it was not my 'fault')

Good luck! Last year was my first LD experience. $53 a pair before fees, $90 after. Cheapest tickets in the house, by far. And although I don’t think people drew PIT in 2021 as often as in the past, I didn’t hear of anyone drawing limited view tickets either. Mine, and most I heard about, were in the 100’s sections. Not PIT, but very nice. I’ll be living vicariously through you all. Have fun!
