Perhaps the best TV show of all time is the first 4-5 seasons (filmed in black and white) of "Wagon Train". I only started watching Wagon Train in the last year but I have played catch up qucikly and I am stunned at how great it is. It is the variety of stories, the history, the concepts, the guest stars, etc etc that make it so good. Each episode is huge, some HUGER than others. Wagon Train episodes are like full blown big budget Hollywood movies but they only lasts 1 hour.

The episodes after Ward Bond (who played Major Seth Adams) passed away are not as spectacular.

After Dark Shadows, David Henesy, who played David Collins, actually appeared in a Waltons episode in 1973 (The Thanksgiving Story).

I watched all 17 episodes back in 1967--my family all loved this show--but I'm still waiting for someone to explain the last episode to me!

Leaving out the old series which never get boring (Like Seinfeld or Fawlty Towers) I'd say:
- The Blacklist
- House MD
- Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee
- Curb Your Enthousiasm
- Inspector Lewis
- Harry and Paul

3. True Detective

4. House of Cards (US version; only if you're into political thrillers)

5. The Walking Dead

7. American Horror Story

Joss Whedon's short lived Firefly (2002–2003)
Only 14 episodes (plus a movie based on the TV show called "Serenity") but it is a surprisingly great, with many twist TV show.
