Running out of Luck movie
Posted by: ribbelchips ()

After reading the Freejack topic I suddenly remembered this little 'gem'. Anyone here saw the 'movie' Running out of Luck? It was released as a promotional film for Mick's She's the Boss album and if i'm not mistaken, the Just Another night video was also a scene in this movie.

I actually enjoyed it back in the days. Especially the scene where Mick tries to convince a Brazilian storekeeper that he is the famous Mick Jagger. Of course it's not a hollywood production, but for a promotional video, it's pretty enjoyable!

I think Mick actually CAN act if he wants to e.g. in Performance or Burnt Orange Heresy, but in this weird movie he didn't even pretend to act, it was laugheable, I skipped through it on YT cause I couldn't actually make myself watch it, it was so bad and stupid...the only good thing out of it is the Just Another Night music video which I love

I remember that scene well, it was pretty funny! I do have the movie on VHS, I watched it once, many years ago, I think that was enough for me.

In the days before easy access to Stones material, especially video, this was fabulous. Also remember the shopkeeper scene.

Worth watching for Rae Dawn Chong in her prime. A couple of the music videos are good.

Horrible movie.
The scene in the shop is a gem, but that’s all.

Agreed!

In the days of VHS tapes, I kept my copy of this one set with it being wound to just before this scene.

(To measure how high that esteem is, the only other VHS tape stored like that was the Marx Brothers movie Duck Soup with the mirror scene [www.youtube.com] )

I'm familar with this scene (as are so many, I presume) -
However, I have never-ever seen nor found more than that 3'.
When we speak about "Running Out Of Luck movie", it does sound like this clip here is just an excerpt... at least to my ears.
If there's more: can someone please confirm tht, and maybe link to the full 'movie' (if there is such a thing) online? I've searched, but never found.
Thx!

the entire movie on Youtube

might skip through some scenes again later, especially the music vids, but watching the whole thing is a waste of time imo it's so dumb xD

Yes it's a full movie. Running time 80 minutes. Starring Jagger, Jerry Hall, Dennis Hopper, Rae Dawn Chong. Directed by Julian Temple.

It was released on VHS and Laserdic.

Had this on VHS. In the days when you had very little Stones stuff on film at home, this was a welcome addition.

All a bit tongue in cheek tho......

.....the scene in the shop is the best part. Pointing to Thro the Past Darkly cover and MJ saying "its me, me....Micky....Micky Jageero"....then he goes into full Jagger hamming it up mode as he struts n jumps to re-recordings of Brown Sugar etc trying to prove it was him.....

As serious as Mick was about being a solo artist at the time RUNNING OUT OF LUCK seems to be a bit of a laugh at himself.

Although a bit over the top campy at times, it's quite brilliant, really - absurdly so, which is what makes it "good".
