Rolling Stones To Play London, Brooklyn In November: Source
agosto 29, 2012 | By Billboard staff

The Rolling Stones will play four dates in November, two at London's O2 Arena and two at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, a source tells Billboard.biz.

Richard Branson and Australian promoter Paul Dainty will promote, and the source says the Stones will be paid $25 million for the four shows.
Earlier this year, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards said the Rolling Stones wouldn't go on tour in 2012 to celebrate the band's 50th golden anniversary. But in July, Richards dropped hints to the BBC about possible live shows.

$200,000 buys you air fare, hotel, 1 ticket to each show and limo service.

"No problem, I'll take 4 tickets" says Richie Rich

Now this sounds right. They love to play in venues they've never done and the Barclay's Center is brand new. (It's not even open yet).

Billion Dollar Arena Built To Gather Rust; Hipster Brooklyn Vintage Look?

Although the Barclay Center hasn't yet officially opened -- and none other than Jay-Z will open it with a slew of concerts -- the billion dollar arena's facade already looks a bit...rusty. It's brand new, but looks older than it really is, gee, typical Brooklyn hipster style, right?

The New York Times reported that this is no mere gimmick, as the firm behind the design, SHoP Architects, decided to build the stadium with weathering steel, a kind of steel that's supposed to rust quickly.

But why would anyone want to gain rust? Apparently, the layer of rust will protect the building against moisture and slows the corrosion process.

There are other buildings in New York with the same weathering steel, such as the East of East condominium building at 13-14 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City and a Greenwich Street townhouse, but this type of architecture is still rarely used.

"This should keep [the rust] to a minimum," Robert Sanna, an executive vice president of Forest City Ratner, told the Times. "And you won't have to worry that it will stain your sweater as you walk by."

As the Times noted, many in Brooklyn are already talking about the building's faded looks.

"I thought they would paint it," said one Brooklyn resident.

This style will likely remain controversial. "When the material gets wet, there is a rusty wash that goes down onto adjacent areas of concrete," said Michael Devonshire, a materials expert at Jan Hird Pokorny Associates, an architecture firm. "It can get really funky looking."

"Funky looking" probably isn't the word most architects hope to achieve when designing a structure. But hey, this is Brooklyn, if the building can indeed have better longevity and avoid corrosion, then maybe it'll be worth the jokes.

I never even dared to imagine that I'd someday be able to take the G train to see the Stones.

Wow.

So this may sound more realistic. Hopefully my funds are enough for the ticket, accommodation etc. I assume it will be a sales via Platinum seats with travel arrangements etc.

25,000,000 / (4 x 20,000)

=

£300 per ticket.

Me too, I'm thinking of selling my Neil Young tickets now to free up some cash for the Stones. I will be in NYC anyway at the beginning of November, I'm hoping the stars align and that they'll be there when I'm there!

If The Stones themselves bill this as the "last live shows of The Rolling Stones" I will think that is sad. I always liked the way they let everyone else say "it is over now"... but The Stones never did... they was always hope.... there was always hope for more in the future.

Not to mention how many bands have done the farewell tours/shows schtick (and most of the time come back again, which I find it pathetic)(btw- my personal policy- I have never gone to see a band again after they said "this is the last tour" only to came groveling back again)

You are far from reality !
25 M$, this is the band royalties, so you have to add many other M$ for renting the venue, insurances, workers, security...and of course, some M$ for the promoters.
So, you can expect for a 500 bucks (or more) ticket.

In which case, they can @#$%& off.

However, I would imagine they have options at each venue for additional nights subject to ticket demand so it may not be a case of $25million for just four shows.

As these will be the only cities theyre playing on each continent in 2012, they should have no problem selling extra shows if required.
