The centre of the stadium is laid out like a huge Union Jack. At first we had models of London landmarks in the centre - Stomp (remember them from Ronnie's Ambassadors show?) performing, and Madness, The Pet Shop Boys, One Direction performing on flat-bed trucks travelling round the running track. Ray Davies arrived in a taxi to sing Waterloo Sunset - the landmarks have now been cleared away to make way for the enormous crowd of athletes.

It a real shame that The Rolling Stones have chosen not to represent their homeland and themselves in these great Olympics, and being old is no excuse. CSN (and Y (on his own) too) are currently out playing 3 hours shows in the states, and getting rave reviews, and the yare 67-70 years old.... not to mention Paul McCartney is still out there "doing it".

I was not a Paul McCartney fan for a long time, and I was only a casual Beatles fan, sure they have some good songs, but the Beatles were only in business for 8 or so years... but I give credit to people who earn it and deserve it, and in recent years Paul McCartney has been stomping the shit our of the Stones as far as still being out there DOING IT!!!! McCartney does not miss beat.... he is playing shows... putting out new music.... playing the Olympic games... doing his fkg job.... doing what he does.

I am not mad at Mick and Kieth et. al. I am just saying it is a shame (and not business smart) to let these opportunites pass them by. Oh well... C'est la vie
