Rolling Stones in NICE 1971

Hey Folks,
I will have a 7 day trip to Nice next week. and so my question: are there any places well known where the Stones had a dinner, bought guitars, whiskey, had a party etc. ? Maybe there are photos circulating of them in Nice?

It would be great if there is someone who can help!
Greetings outta Berlin.

Apart from a visit to Nellcote in Villefranche, it's just a great place to take a break! Wish I was on the riviera right now.

Was there a couple of years ago. Very nice area and one of the oldest cities in France. Great outdoor markets, including a wonderful flower market. Would love to go back.

I have tried to nail down the locations of the Stones-photos in France 71 by Cooper and Tarle and I can't seem to recollect any Nice images. Villefranche, Beaulieu, Eze, Monaco, Cap Ferrat, Antibes, StTropez, Cannes and Bills place -yes, but no Nice. Its a little strange since its a two minute trainride from Villefranche Sur Mer, so they probably went there. Keith of course picked up his Telecaster at Nice Airport but that hardly counts as a place for pilgrimage, he he.

But Nice is a great place. Go to the old city and hang out. Picknic on top of the park above Hotell Suisse. I just came back from two weeks in Villefranche and think you should go there again, he he. The Russian owner (who denied Stones to film the documentary there) is currently in place so its quite a spectacle. Nellcote is lit like the Colloseum at night.

99% chance to be this place, on the harbour of St Jean Cap Ferrat (a few minutes walk from NellcĂ´te).
40 years after the B/W picture, the place is very different :

Now it's 100% sure, "Cappa" restaurant is actually named "Cadillac"

Great research arizojp!

+1. I like these "then & today" photos, like the thread of photos of Los Angeles in 1972 & today.

They were not in Nice but rented a "huge" villa in Villefranche-sur-mer (3 km from Nice) called the villa Nellcote
Have a look at this link ==> https://www.google.fr/search?q=nelcote&hl=fr&client=firefox-a&hs=tFn&rls=org.mozilla:fryawning smileyfficial&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=vdskUPr7NqrO0QXglYGQCw&ved=0CFwQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=580#hl=fr&client=firefox-a&hs=2Fn&rls=org.mozilla:fryawning smileyfficial&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=xtskUI7tBKjV0QXVwICwCg&ved=0CEUQBSgA&q=nellcote&spell=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=95e2cb2ff96abe2f&biw=1024&bih=580

Talking about Nellcote, visiting this place in 2007 was without any doubt a highlight of my personal Stones career:

May I observe that Keith is being served - not at Cappa/Cadillac - but at a place across the street now called La Civette.

Keith was sitting under the "Bar Glacier" sign on the right
